THE SENIOR CLASS PRESENTS THE BLUE DEVIL ’56 EDITOR-IN-CHIEF june McCauley BUSINESS MANAGER DEBORAH DuBOSE The most treasured keepsakes of our high school days are our class rings. These circlets of gold represent twelve years of scholastic achievement and symbolize the many happy memories we have of St. John's. The ring is patterned after our school seal, which was designed by an alumnus of St. John’s, Mr. Robert W. Coggeshali. Surround- ing this replica of the seal is the name of the school and the date of its establishment. On one side of the seal is a Palmetto Tree, signifying the State of South Carolina, and on the other side is a delta, which stands for the high scholastic standards of St. John’s. Encrusted in the center is the school motto, “Ad Maiorium Glorium,’’ which is translated “to the greatest glory of God,’ and which has been interpreted thus: “St. John's exists for the purpose of training boys and girls to be good citizens and in being good citizens, we honor God.” c.on DEDICATION E ,6 THE ANNUAL STAFF AND SENIOR CLASS as a token of their love and esteem proudly dedicate THE 1956 BLUE DEVIL to MRS.
