The staff's activities for the year included attending a Yearbook Wor shop in September, sponsoring a 24-hour Rock- -Thon to raise addi- tional funds, and touring the Josten's American Yearbook Com'-pargf plant in Topeka. Life in the women's dormitory was sparked by the Women's House Council. Projects in- cluded the fall Big Sis-Little Sis party, Mothers' weekend and stpecial floor projects. Officers were Diana retke, chairperson, Kath Mueller and Barbara Bass, secretary, and Cheryl Koschmann, treasurer. Men's House Council Concentrates On Projects . Many Projects Keep StuCo Busy Student Council's members are elected by the classes they represent. Their goal and pur- ose is to represent the student body in all 'acets of campus life. Among their projects were freshman orientation, monthly movies, cultural activities, intramural athletics, bloodmobile visits to campus, a hayride, and their homecoming display. They also conduct- ed dances and various other activities for stu- dents. SCAMP Shares Christ Through Projects The 1976-77 SCAMP teams continued to grow in the love of Christ. Eddie Mease coordinated this effort with the help of Dave Wodtke and advisor John Saleska. Who's Who gives special recognition to the outstanding sophmores on our campus. ln their two years at St. John's college these students must maintain at least a 3.00 GPA, must demonstrate lead- ership qualities, must be ac- tive in campus activities, and must exengpligf campus life. Eleven in ivi uals with these qualifications were se- lected this year by the Stu- dent Life Committee and then approved by the Dean of' Stu- ents. Did You Hear the Good News? The 1977 recruit- ment team, New Life, spread the Gospel message and the merits of St. John's College throughout Kansas, Oklahoma, and Colorado. Performing at the LYE Youth Congress in Wichita the LLL Convention in Little Rock Arkansas, and touring Colorado for a week in lVlay were es'pecially enlightening and upli ting for New Life. Their purlposes were showing Christ s ove, friendship and serving others. Parish Worker Choir Praises The Lord In Song The Parish Worker Choir was directed by Carla Sproul and Gwen Hinrichs, lVlr. Ban ert sponsored the group. The members joine to praise the Savior, promote the program and develop fellowship within the class. They filled their schedule by singing in chapel at the rededication service, in a concert before their call service, in the Christmas concert and in two Kansas churches. The Eagles finished with an over-all record of 4- -1 and a PJCC record of 2-9-1 leaving them 4th in the standings. The Homecoming contest against Hesston brought out the Eagle fight. Tied 1-1 after regulation play, the game went overtime in which Hesston scored three goals against St. John's. SKOV Starts New Spirit Sparks Eagles Season The determination and effort of the 1976-77 basketball team combined with Johnnie Spirit and the direction of first year coach Ralph Skov led the way for SJC indoor sports. When the last basket was shot and the mighty Eagles hit the showers they had the satisfaction of knowing that they had fin- ished the season with a 10-16 record and had managed to walk away with second place honors in the Prairie Junior College Confer- ence. lndividual honors went tocplayers and coach alike. Her attendants were Ruth Schaefer Pam Stuemke, Shari Juergensen, and lris llfliller, escorted by Dave Ahlman, Tom Saleska, Larry lVliller, and Ron Kreger, respectively. The reigning 1975 queen, Carla Sproul, was escorted by Dave Dennis. A Cappella and Chapel Choirs provided music for t e corona- tion ceremony. Following coronation was the presentation of a musical production from three parts of Alleluia . Saturday, a well fought soccer game ended in a loss to Hesston. That evening the Dennis Simmons Group provided music or the Dance, concluding a memorable weekend. 1. The past memories of CarIa's reign end only to create new memories for Cheryl as they transfer the throne. 2. Choir members and Alumni unite to sing. 3. Chapel ls Rededicated To The Lord s Service The 1976-77 Johnnies were the first to use tne newly renovated lVleyer Chapel-Auditorium. The chapel was re- decorated to the glory of God and will be used in service to the Lord. A week of activities were planned to cele- brate the comcsnletion of the chapel, starting off with a dedication an worship service on Sund?. Lewis Nie- moeller, Chairman of the Board of High ducation, was the dedication speaker.
