Fall, the first Missouri Synod parish in Kansas was formed. D e c e m b e r 25, St. Pau1's Lutheran Church, Leavenworth, the first Missouri Synod church building in Kansas, was organized. April, in Leavenworth the first Missouri Synod parochial school in Kansas was organized. September 25, the Kansas District was organized in Leavenworth. May 4, the English Synod of the Evan- gelical Lutheran Synod of Missouri and Other States accepted St. John's Col- lege as a gift from John Peter Baden, the College's founder and a Kansas Lutheran layman. -ii 1893 September 13, the first day of classes at St. Iohn's College. 1894 March 1, Baden Hall, the first building on the St. John's College campus was dedicated. 1908 July 1, the Kansas District assumed control of St. John's College for the Missouri Synod. 1950 August 23, Mundinger Hall at St. Iohn's College, a women's dormitory built principally by gifts from the Kansas District, was dedicated. 1959 Ground was broken for St. Iohn's College field house. 1961 Ground was broken for the St. John's College library. 1961 Thankoffering for the future St. John's College student union. We, the JOHNNIE Staff, dedicate this 1961 yearbook, in this centennial year, to those who through the years have offered their prayers for God's blessing upon St. john's College. I6
