When Lutheran Social Services, Inc., transferred its offices to Wichita, the Col- lege purchased the buildings and grounds owned by the agency and remodeled the principal building for use as a high school boys res- idence hall. The three-story brick structure can provide dormitory space for thirty-eight boys and a resident counselor. Located two blocks from the main campus, this latest major addition to the College's campus area was named Park Campus. Mr. Tschatschula, the high school principal, occupied the res- idence located on Park Campus. LIBRARY NEARS COMPLETION Mm? Construction of the new library for St. john's College began this past year. It will be completed for the opening of the fall term of school in Sep- tember. Total cost of the new building, including equipment and remodeling of the present library area, will be in excess of 5350, 000. The new facility is a part ofthe schoo1's million-dollar expansion program. Its native stone exteriorwill harmonizewith the other campus buildings. The building, which will measure 185 by 110 feet, will be of one-story construction and will be completely air conditioned. PHYSICAL EDUCATION BUILDING The steady growth of the congrega- tion and the increase in the enrollment which has been projected for St. john's College make it mandatory that thewor- ship facilities of Trinity Church be sub- stantially increased. A Building for God effort has been organized to raise the necessary funds for the building of a new and modern church to replace the present inadequate church plant. Nl R I N I TL yU T H E R AC NH U R C H PA ST OR EARL SCHMIESING CHA PEL The Word of God, the Gospel of jesus Christ, Whether presented by the spoken Word, in drama, or in music, was the center of our life on campus. Thus the chapel, more than the classroom, was the center of our school life. The association's motion to admit St. john's means that the college in its total educational program m e et s the high standards set by the association for excellence in teaching and the accreditation itself will lend stature for the credits completed at St. john's and offered for transfer to the senior-college lev el at other colleges and universities. With this action, both the junior college and the high school departments are accredited by the North Central Association. Judith Abraham 1020 E.
