We of St. John's, being students in a cathedral high school are fortu- nate indeed, because, as such, we merit not only the interest and be- nign guidance of both the Most Reverend Bishop, Thomas A. Boland, but also that of the Right Reverend Monsignor Hill. We thank them both for their enthusiastic response to our every need and the opportu- nity they have given us, to have par- ticipated in and partake of all the beauty, pageantry, and holiness of cathedral services, during our high school years. MOST REVEREND THOMAS A. BOLAND, S.T.D. Bishop of Paterson The role of father in the home covers a multitude of responsibilities -among them spiritual guidance in the formation of character. ln high school, our home, away from home, Bishop Boland, has exercised this most important task in the most up- lifting of ways. From him, we, in common with all the members of the Paterson diocese, have received the most elusive benefit-stabilizing authority based on gentleness and Christian charity. RIGHT REVEREND MONSIGNOR WALTER H. HILL Pastor Another phase of paternal respon- sibility is the support of his family to provide them with food, clothing, and shelter. By continually improv- ing, repairing, and beautifying our school, Monsignor Hill has given us the last of these, by putting at our disposal the finest of text books and supplies, his given us food for thought: and last but not least by forever cheering us on and boosting our morale, he has given us the school spirit which is the invisible uniform of every loyal student of St. John's. 6 Eas- N1 4: . To continue our analysis of the head of our scholastic household, it is a poor father, indeed, who over- looks the socializing and fun of his family. Father Boyle has accom- plished all this and more in the most masterful of ways and with princely generosity. For four years, his time and assistance with our dances, sports, and clubs have been at our disposal so that not the slightest morsel of fun has been denied us. IW K-.J Reverend Thomas J.
