L I ASS HISTORX It was qulte a l1ttle crew that found ltself 1n Rooms 9 and 10A on an early September day four years ago A bxt confused at flrst of course we were typlcal bexuldered freshmen not really knowmg whether 10A was an extenslon of Room 10 or whose home room the Study Hall was But how we learned' Only days later the prodlgles of the class of 48 were scampermg through the halls 11ke veteran semors We frosh enJoyed a slelgh r1de tsome of us st1ll have plctures of that werent we small l and a dance durmg the school term so you see we were soc1ally lI'1C1lI'l9d even at thls tender age Because of thls 1ncl1nat1on to be soclable we acqulred durmg our flrst year the stlgma of bemg a very talkatlve class Although we know Slster Mary Inez and Slster Mary W1ll1am meant no offense they really d1d use drastxc means to check our lmpulses to talk rather well shall we sheepmshly say mcessantly Thls year the class welcomed the followlng to 1ts numbers Barbara Ryan Helen Devan Helena OConnell Dorns Duquette Lucllle Provost Arthur Rabldeau Morrxs Dutton Ph1l Seney Barbara Brunell Betty Gooley Joyce Brandell and Arthur Rock The now greatly strengthened class of 48 elected 1ts freshmen offlcers Pres1dent Donald Bull1s V1ce Presldent Larry Infante Secretary Ann Hlckey Treasurer Jack Sharron And then we found ourselves Sophomores were we proud' Our class talents were d1v1ded between rooms 14 and 10 Slster Mary Carmelxta and Sxster Mary Aloyslus succeeded Slster Mary Inez and Slster Mary Wllham 1n TRYING to subdue ou1 SOCIHI 1ncl1nat1on twhlch was as you recall to talk to anyone at any tlme 1n any placel Thls year we elected the followmg Pres1dent Thomas McGav1sk VICE Pres1dent Jack Sharron Secretary Betty Gooley Treasurer Sally Larav1e Although we lost one member Tom Haley the class had a few addxtlons Robert Jock B111 OBr1en and George Waldron The Sophomore Hop was the blg soc1al event of the year tho a few lucky ones attended the Jumor Prom and were real grown ups The fellows were makmg names for themselves ln the sports world Donald Bull1s tnow Dud to everyonel headed the 11st wlth vars1ty football basket ball and baseball to hls name already Tom McGav1sk and Larry Infante Jomed Dud and held posltlons on the basketball varslty Baseball season found Dud Larry and also George Dyer all playmg for SJA Room 11 was h1t by the class of 48 wlth full force We I'CJ0lC6d Jubllantly over the fact that at last we were all together agaxn Slster Mary Estelle became responslble for us and took over that Job forsaken by so many of the faculty before her eventually f1nd1ng It xmpossxble too Our httle group tnow quxte ex pandedl Just had to be SOClab16 so talkatlve we rema1ned Flass offlcers thls year were Pres1dent Francxs Doherty VICC Pres1dent Betty Gooley Secretary Ann Hlckey Treasurer Larry Northup We lost a few more from our merry ranks thls year when we sald goodbye to Bob Jock B111 O Brlen Lucxlle Provost Helena O Connell and Morrxs Dutton Pearl Hayes was the only newcomer The Jumor glrls of course were 1n1t1ated mto the Junsen Club twho was the cad who took PICTUTQS of us J What a txme plgtalls pmcurls and scrubb1ng the sldewalk wlth a tooth brush were we embarrassed' tWho was the cad that took plctures of us J The class sponsored several small dances and then there was the Jumor Prom W1ll you ever forget lt' Soft hghts a w1sh1ng well gllSlCYl1l lg stars tremember our theme STARDUST91 gay streamers balloons and Nap Llght s dreamy musxc what a nlght' The Junlor boys were m the sports hmcllght we recall for the football varslty boasted such Jumors as Dud Bull1s Tom McGav1sk George Dyer Larry Northup Bud Schurr and Larry Infante Basketball clammed four Jumors on varslty Dud Tom McGav1sk tnow McGo0 1 George Dyer and Larry Northup flnally baseball wlth Tom MCGHVISR George Dyer Larry Infante Dud and Bud Schurr sharmg honors 1 1 1 1 1 ' ' J I I I ' ' 1 1 1 V . 1 1 . . . . , . . . . . . . . , - 1 - 1 . . . . ,. 1 - ' 11- 11 1 1 ' . . , , . , . . 1 1 1 1 1 ' 1 1 1 1 - , . .
