The '73-74 school year was a well rounded mixture of big things and little things. No one of them could dominate as the most impressive of the year. Since Vianney has always been very sports oriented, most people were very happy this year which could be called Vianney's second best year in sports, next to ,7l. Sportswise the year started off with a bang. The football team may not have been the best ever, but l0-0-l and a CAC championship isn't bad. The winter sports weren't the strong points but they provided a lot of excitement and proved to be the spoilers in several cases. The spring sports produced two teams, track and baseball, that in record and achievement were better than any other teams in the school's history. Academically the year produced sparks of brilliance with three National Nlerit Finalists. The above mentioned things could not alone make or break a year, the so-called small things could. lt was the little things that made the entire year exceptional. Things like good dances, high attendance at games, a prosperous student cotmcil, a week of snow days, B-law field trips, Bro. Dix's short speeches opposed to last year's long ones, well run assemblies and Masses, a good Prom and Jr. Ring Dance, Vianney was even put on the map a little this year with a State Speech winner and an all-state football player, and nine state track qualifiers. Well, maybe it wasn't the best year, maybe you wish you never went to Vianney, maybe you can't wait till next year, and maybe you just don't care, but for the class of '74, . .it was a great year.
