Once the weather cleared up, the May Festival again proved to be very successful and enjoyable. The Home and School Association, as it has done in the past, handled the booths and preparations for the festival. In addition to the traditional Ring-toss, hockey shoot, hole-in-one and others, something new was added. May Festival Better Than Ever Instead of a chicken dinner, a steak and potato dinner was offered. Judg- ing from the long lines waiting, the new idea was a tremendous success and delicious. ln the evening, the annual dance was held, featuring j'Festival. U x Griffin Staff --s S ....L'ia9 The Griffin carried on its tradition as one of the best high school newspapers in the area by virtue of many returning staff members and a number of creative writers. Bro. R. Schrader lent a guiding hand, but the bulk of the work was turned out by the students. Scott Meier in the guise of a mild mannered reporter and his sidekick Oscar Groebl held down the positions of co-editors. Along with them, special editors, Mike Simpson, Tom Moder, Steve Ruzicki and Jim Schmiedeskamp spent many long hours working to make the deadlines in getting out the paper. The paper kept the student body informed of current events and sports around the school. The Griffin, utilized its right of freedom of the press to criticize where criticism was needed, but also tried to print only facts. -- f ,few lx- ' ,J Tom Moder Mike Simpson Scott Meier Oscar Groebl Steve Ruzicki Tim Nobel Jim Schmiedeskamp
