Superman Is Smashing Success Yianuey is rapidly hecotning known for its excellent stage productions with tlte reptttation ol' its two past very sttccesslttl plays lhe Raintnaker attd You're a Liood Nlan Cltarlie Bi'owit. And, on tlte last ueekend ol' Nlarch of this year, the Yianney stage catne alive once again with the tuusic and laughter of another line play. This years production was Super- tnauf' The direction ot' the play was handled hy Nlr. .lohn Bttreke and the inttsical direction was done by Mr. Steve Nobel, the director ol last year's Charlie Browiif' Superman was a rather large production. so both of these individuals deserve every hit of applause that tlte play received. This applause was also intended for the line actors and actresses ol' Stiperinan. The lead role of Super- ntaniClark Kent was played by Bob Dolan. Toni Wethington gave a metno- rahle pert'orinance as the villain, Dr. Alnier Sedgwick. Tim Dunigan played the part of playboy, Max Mencken. The part of lint Morgan was portrayed by one of Vianney's Student Council officers, Frank Hantak. Last year's Charlie Brown, Len Kopsky played the role of Father Ling. The two fetuale leads were played by Laura Ackeriuann and Cain Wolff. Laura. also a inetnber of last year's cast. played the role of the forlorn lover of Superinan, Lois Lane. Cant, one ol' Vian- ney's Girl Reps, perl'ormed tlte part of Sydttey. Max Mencken's secretary. Greg Chappius was also a member of the cast, playing the role of Perry White and also various others. A special note ol' recognition is de- served by the entire chorus and the Flying Lings. Both of these were impor- tant to the success of the play and were certainly noticeable to all. All of those individuals who did the behind the scenes work also deserve much praise for their effectiveness and hard work. lt is plain to see from the success of Superman that the long hours of work and practice were worth it. But more important, by putting on another success- ful play, Vianney has definitely firmly established itself as a leader in theatrics. It is certain that Vianney students will continue to use and exhibit their acting abilities.
