Dedication of Memorial Held September 24, 1949 was a momentous night in the annuals of St. John Township history. A flick of a switch sent power into sixty-four floodlights which poured ninety-six thousand watts of light onto the Dedication Ceremonies of St. John Township Memorial Field. Impressive rites honored the memory of the youths of the township who gave their lives in World War II. Several thousand people helped finance the project. The masses who, like the twenty-five hundred in attendance for the dedication, will utilize the field in the future and will make it a living memorial. Eleven
