Btocn PARTY AND HOMECOMING When St. Iohn Neumann throws a party, they throw a party! And on September 29, 1984, that's exactly what they did. The list of events began with a five-mile run through downtown South Philly. Alumni, faculty, students, and friends were invited to participate. Awards were given to the winners in each category. It was followed by a foot- ball game against St. Iames. Many alumni were present for this special Homecoming Game. Although Neumann was defeated, the spirits of this group were not dampened. The postgame fes- tivities moved to the high school, where they put on a good old fashioned block party. Food, games and prizes were just the tip of the iceberg. There was entertainment for the kids, refreshments for the adults and a good time for all. Many people enjoyed a sneak preview of Annie and the great sounds of the Air Force band. But what would a block party be without the mummers? Quaker City supplied that special sound to this great day. Besides being a party, the event was a chance to renew friendships. Many former faculty members were on hand and met students they taught years ago. This party had a great effect on everyone. It brought the St. Iohn Neumann Community together. The party was a fitting sign off to a fabulous weekend.
