Cmmc O ciiccction Realizing the power of intercession heldby Mary in the celestial kingdom of her Divine Son, we, the Seniors of St. John's High School, dedicate ourselves and our annual to Mary, our Mother of Perpetual Help. . . . That she may ever help us in our search for happiness with her Divine Son, leading us always in His footsteps and allowing us never to stray from His divine path. . . . That she may ever protect us, both from spiritual and corporal harm, in this world where vice lures us ever from God and our lives are daily endangered by the speed and recklessness of this modern era. . . . That she may ever help us in our daily toil, whether it be in the religious life or out in the world trying to bring others closer to Christ. We now entreat, and earnestly beseech thee to grant us, that throughout every attack of the devil we may fly to thee exclaiming: O Mary, help us, help us! O Mother of perpetual help, do not allow us to be bereaved of our God. Life is what you make it! It can be pleasant or unbearable, good or bad- Being a bit optimistic in our outlook on life, we have chosen as our theme, the months of the school year in the light of each month's trying to outdo the others. As summer grows into the picturesque season of autumn, we find ourselves returning once more to our school., Gradually, with little reluctance, we fall in- to the routine of study. Then comes winter with its thrill of the first crest of new-fallen snow. Just in time to break the routine, we have winter's chief holy day, Christmas, which brings with it its many activities and joyous spirit. Resolutions are made and broken in January--exams come and go. School spirit is at its ebb, with everyone buried deep in sports activities. Spring blossoms forth in all its splendor causing hearts and minds to stray, looking forward to summer vacation. For the seniors this is the climax of the year--indeed, of four short years. These are but a few of the many events of the fleeting school year. They are recalled with a joyous heart, and a misty eye. These are our months, and our theme for this azmual of 1954. ...,,-4 Life is what we make it. And only we can make it worth living.
