Va Dy K f SYLVESTER LES HELFfLeft End Les was often pulled out of the line to punt, and he turned in many a fine game as a pass receiver. He was a fine blocker and tackler and threw opposing backs for heavy losses. This fellow gave his best and fought until the end. It will not be an easy task for his successor next fall to carry on his tradition. AMBROSE SNORT VAN DYKE-Left End Snort used his height to good advantage at all times. He could steal a pass and stiff arm his way forward for many yards. Although pass catching was his favorite pastime he was Just as effective on defen sive plays The absence of his height will be a problem for the coaches to solve next year IEROME BONEY VERSTEGEN Right End Boney is the author of The Bench and Sideline Slants the humorous sports col umn you enioyed in the school paper He never knew the word quit and was con sidered a shoestring tackler and a sensa tional pass receiver When he tackled a man he hit him as low as possible 'i Hana J CLARENCE ARCl-IIE VAN HANDEL- Left Guard Archie had the weight and speed for a real guard but was laid up half the season with a twisted knee. When this lad was in the game, he gave his best which was too good for his opponent. Archie was a fine man on defense and at leading interference. IEROME COMY HELFARight Halfback Comy could smash the line and circle the ends for long substantial gains. He put the team in fine positions to score, and when he tucked the ball under his arm, he was very hard to overtake. Comy was a good listener and readily submitted to the instruc tions of the captain and coaches Ierome was a good passer and the hardest tackler on the team ROBERT BOB SIEBERS Right End Bob a tall rangy fellow could spear a pass with one hand and run for many valu able yards Very few plays got around his end and he thrilled many a spectator with his keen blocking and tackling Bob was a capable man at covering punts He ie e I I - I I I I . ..
