Homecoming of 1951 Through the tote of the student body and faculty, Viola Eyink was chosen Homecoming Queen for the mght of October 12 Shirley Fleck served as Ma1d of Honor, with Marilyn Meier and Martha Gast as attendant Larry Bruggeman was crown bearer At the half time, the St John High School Band played 'Military Escort, while the con vertibles driven by Bob Fleck and Jerry Dahlinghaus, slowly drove on the football field in front of the grandstand The band then formed into a large V E, standing for the Queen's initials The convertibles were driven between the V E While in this formation, the band played Truly Truly Fair The honor of crowning the Queen was awarded to our Captain, Paul Thobe while Leo Hartings, our Co captain, presented her with a bouquet of flowers When the coming,' and he bestowed upon her a kiss Then the Co captain presented her with a bouquet of yellow carnations, and he also gave her a kiss Following this, the convertibles slowly passed the St John and Bradford spectators and then drove to the St John side The Queen and her court watched the game from the one convertible Following the game, a homecoming dance was held in the Knights' Hall, where the Queen once more reigned The music was provided by Thobe s Orchestra The Queen was attired in a lovely white formal The Maid of Honor wore blue, while the other attendants wore aqua and green They all wore corsages of yellow carnations, their class flower A..
