Returmng from Memphxs, I stopped at Muncxe Indxana to see a bxg convent A famxllar face welcomed me Who was xt but Esther l-Iausfeld who xs now Sxster Superior The next mormng, roammg through one of the largest department stores m Indxanapohs I notrced a very famxlxar face sxttmg at the desk m one of the offxces As I was a lxttle curxous 1 walked closer to her and 1mmed1ately recogmzed her as Marlene Vondrell She 15 now employed as one of the bookkeepers for the depart ment stores there When I was leavnng there I heard a famxhar voxce I turned to see who xt was and was greeted by a very frxendly person I recognxzed her as Delores Plexman now Mrs Vxrgnl Gaerke She mformed me later that she was a dress desxgner of the latest fasluons for the department stores m Portland Indnana She saxd she enjoys her posmtzon and ns certaxnly enjoyxng hfe From there I went to the theatre and took 1n a movle I was almost stunned to see Julxa Bruggeman walk mto thxs theatre wnth dxamonds and furs decoratmg her beaut1fully She was marrned by now, and had no chxldren She had marrxed a doctor and the young, handsome man happened to be a nexghbor of Mr Barr As I was drwmg through Zeke Peaks, a maroon convertxble whxzzed past me I dxdn t get a good look at the drxver but as he passed I thought he locked fam111ar At the nex' gas statxon he stopped, so I pulled up beslde hxm I-le got out of hns car and to my surpnse I recogmzed hun as Alex Bruggeman After chattmg wxth hmm for quxte awhxle he told me he was a famous fullback at the Umversxty of Marxa As I was nearmg home Saturday evenxng I stopped at Beer Vxew Lodge What a shock It was to flnd the former Susxe Borgert and her husband Dxck Pharrxs are the proprxetors of zt After travelmg all mght I reached home about 4 00 m the morning Upon report mg the events of my trxp to the editor of the Nashvmlle Tunes I happened to see Ella Mae Ranly mn h1s offxce She told me she was the edxtor of the Women s Socxety column for thxs paper She saxd she had just recexved a letter from Ethel Kremer and that she was now domg nursmg m the Mercy I-lospxtal nn Coldwater As I was vxsxtxng on further I came to a church and decxded to stop m for a v1s1t, and whom do you think I saw? None other than Mark I-lem worklng on the church as a steeplejack paxntxng the cross Whale talkmg to Mark I told hmm I hadn t as yet found Teresa Bergman He told me that a month ago he had met her out West She s a real Cowgnrl and xntroduces herself as Terry the Kzd She looks very sharp 1n her rmdxng breeches She owns the Bar X Ranch and IS famous an many Western movxes After seemg nearly all of the Class of 51 I happened to see Vzrguua Tumbusch an my nexghbormg town She told me she was engaged to a promment busxnessman I asked her what she was domg smce she graduated and she sand she was her france secretary I very much enjoyed meetxng these former schoolmates of mme and w1sh them still greater success ln the years to come 32 - . . , . , .
