JUS TINE PERTICONE The senior class of 1959, and the rest of the student body wish to express their gratitude to Coach Perticone for the fine work he has done in developing a well disciplined football and basketball team. His unlimited patience has proven an encouraging factor in spite of setbacks and complications in- volved in the task of coaching. Coach Hautschild took over as the new reserve football and basketball coach this year. Though a quiet, considerate man, he has proven himself extremely valuable to St. John's coaching staff, and student body. Many thanks to him. Coach Rider started coaching five years ago with the eighth graders and is now head football coach. We are very thankful to him and wish him much success in the future. 66 In I , - FIRST ROW, LEFT TO RIGHT: R.J. Mosson, D. Schafer, J. Sambaer, J. Moran, R. Kalahar, A, Lefere. R. Oatley, T. You've all heard the famous saying by the noted fashion designer, M. L. Dempski, If you wear your clothes long enough, they will come back in style. Keeping this principle in mind, we've decided that we should go back and discover how we reached this fabulous age. But before we leave the present, we feel that we owe the scientific world a short visit with B. Smith and J. Tuttle. They are engaged in the very profitable business of buying and selling satellites. Chimie QR. Chmielewskij test drives all the new satellites before they're put on the market. This way you know they're safe. M. Duffy and T. Drennan make sure they are shiny before they are sold--Satellite Wash, you know. D. Anderson and M. LaRa have recently perfected their Jet --they got their first BIG break in Sister M. Aimee's physics class. Taking care of their books are M. Juszkowski and A. Kellogg. These two girls received book- keeping honors upon graduating from high school. B. Wilson is one of the head typists. D. Navarre is doing fabulous work as Advertising Manager--one of the reasons for the company's widespread fame. As we leave these times of wonders, we hop into Eddie and Bob Soltis' Doodle-Bug and turn back the time. The only person the cousins could see fit to operate their masterpiece is the one and only D. Kalahar. This can be understood for we all remember Dick's phenomenal jump shots. We now find ourselves in the Auto Age. Kalahar just rushed in and said, Hey man! We're low on petro. As a result we find ourselves coasting into F. Neubecker's station. G. Zimmerman is head assistant to the head assistant, D. Devine, who has been in charge of the place since Fred is taking a small cruise in the South Pacific with his wife, the former Y. Kryst. And here comes Hard-workin Gary--he does windshields to perfection. E. Huyghe and J. Pahl just pulled up to fill us in on the latest gossip--Gurr 8. O'Connell's trip to court. They were charged with evading the issue. Judy heard that Bob O. and Elaine W. just had their second set of twins. That ought to keep her busy. In reading over yesterday's paper, we find T. Gutowski's name listed With the Sick --Seems he was dragged down a bowling alley with his thumb still in the ball. G. Gianella tried to help him, but he was laughing so hard that his efforts were of no avail. Nurses A. Conway and T. Sarafin rushed to the scene. Some- thing of interest--T. Kelly has just been awarded the trophy for being the All American Boy. Our Doodle-Bug now having acquired a sufficient supply of fuel, we took leave of Devine and his cohorts and headed back toward the Industrial Age. Our first stop was Henry Ford's Motor Service. And here in the shop sweeping up L. Kibler's debris is J. Tomshack. CAlways thought that boy was headed for big things.j Louie is E of the top EXECUTIVES here and Jack is the top SWEEPER. Well! Wonders never cease--L. Elinski is Louie's secretary. After having talked to Jack for some time, we find that at the present, the nations TOP car designing women are a couple of our old buddies--P. Kaminski and C. Molo- tkiewicz. They are located on the third floor. On our way up to the top f3rdj floor, the ele- vator operator, Miss T. Bissot, told us that M. L. Rogers recently had to resign from this position because she contracted a bad case of the Bends . She also told us that when this building was erected, the architects U. Gorney 8. G. McCaslinj thought it would be a nice idea to have an information counter on the top floor. And after looking over numerous appli- cation forms, they decided that the person most suited for this position was L. Zabrowski. After saying good-by to Teresa we went over and talked to Luc for a while. She told us that M.A. Damjanac, after finishing school, decided that she wouldldevote the rest of her life to teach- ing poor misguided teen-agers how to do The Walk. You see, since Bandstand isn't on the air yet, how else will the young people learn to dance? Her star pupils are N. Whedon and J. Dorian. She gives lessons daily in the last room at the end of the hall. However, this isn't the only dancing establishment in the town, N. Smith and J. McQuillan are helping the cause by giving free lessons to the Friendly Order of People. 84 After leaving all this excitement behind us, our Doodle-Bug approaches the Horse and buggy Daze. Here we meet K. Johnson on her High Horse galloping along the trail with D. Jonasz and M. Case in fast pursuit. No doubt you're wondering why the chase--well, Kathy just left the employ of B. Brown and J. Moran, co-owners of the Town's Tavern, and their customers are quite upset. Among the outraged customers are B. Black, J. Higgins, T. Wow- ianko, and T. Warfield. As we follow Kathy across the plain, we run across Chief Slowinski and his heap big Injun Tribe. Surprise of surprises, we find two little sisters trying desperately to ring the big bell of St. John's Mission. Look again--the sisters are M. H. Mapes and P. Clifton. They really got shook up when they got a look at our strange machine, but we talked to them for a while and then they calmed down. Then having bid farewell to all the inhabi- tants of the village, we took off for Dodge City. Upon entering the city, we see the town's three most eligible young ladies, Ruth S., Joanne H., and Julie Ann D., parading down the main drag--the hot board walk. They told us of the biggest event in the history of Dodge City. Seems that Holt-Paladin came to town just in time to see Wyatt Jodis jalias Janj take a wild swing at Rog Dillon jalias Vailj. The town was in an uproar for days. Then heading for the Cobler's shop to see some of J. Bradley's famed leather work, jhe uses imported heels from Englandj we passed the Livery Stable. Lo and behold, J. Tylutki and D. Zakrezewski are in charge of the town's transportation. They are very responsible boys. lt was people like them who had a big hand in the making of America's HISTORY. Right next store to John and Dave is Pete Wisda and Lip Martin's Rent- A-Buggy. You'd think that there would be competition between the neighbors--there is. But still they remain good friends. Across the street we find Mrs. O'Shaugnessy's Jewelry Shop--she was the former M. L. Franklin. Keeping her well supplied with jewels are D. Lefaive and M. H. Witkowski, who are in partnership in the Great Kansas Diamond Mine. Their most energetic miners are Frankie Rule, Johnny Tyrell, and the noted politician, Art Sayers. Funny kind of work for Art to be doing. The greatest helps in guarding these mines are the famous dogs, Al and Jigs. We hear Judy and Shirley are just making a fortune off them. Strange thing about Al, instead of scaring away any would-be-thieves, he just makes friends with them. Again entering our little masterpiece, we sped on. As we zoomed by old Rome, we saw Double-Dealin Dave's fMurphyj used chariot lot. His partner is Alert Al fLefereD who spots any and all shady deals. We didn't stop there because Dave seemed so busy. Our Doodle-Bug now brings us to our final stop--the Stone Age. After we left our turn- back-the-time bomb, D. Schaffer, the area's greatest cave man, came running up to tell us of a recent discovery. It seems that M. A. Paruch found out that people could float. One of the most appreciative of this discovery is R. J. Mosson, who has been trying for years to catch a fish. As soon as he heard about the finding, he picked up a spear, ran down to the lake, jumped in, and hasn't been seen since. This can be well understood because R. always had a fishy attitude. Say! That's N. Walicki and M. A. Conway floating along on that log out there. Looks like they're having a ball. Donny says that R. A. LaRosa used to do that too, but she fell off about a week ago and has had a HYDRO -phobia ever since. My this must be the age of discoveries because here comes J. Bullinger and J. Sambaer who just built the first fire. This was much to the disgust of G. Greiner because, P. Frendl, who is in charge of the school, has announced that there will now be classes during the winter. She has a degree in hieroglyphics and is trying to convey some of her knowledge to her pupil. Another professor, Ted Smith, is teaching the art of deer hunting to Val Wilbourn, who is very much interested in the sport. As we made our way back to the Doodle-Bug we saw T. Campbell, D. Lomas, L. Job, M. Smith, and D. Kelosky very engrossed in something. Coming nearer we found that it was nothing--just old man Winn playing nic nac with L. Money. We then said good-by to all and headed home for a good night's rest. 85 CAN YOU IMAGINE?
