REVEREND FATHER JOSEPH V. COYLE PASTOR Since becoming our Pastor on January 8th, 1946, Father Coyle has directed many spiritual and social functions which have been a benefit to both students and parishoners. Through his guidance, the last two summers have been memorable ones because of the July Parish Festival. To Father Coyle from the departing Class of 53, we leave our most heart- felt thanks and gratitude to the generous and virtuous example he has given us as a friend and advisor.

Reverend Father Clarence Wood - Assistant Pastor Born at Flint, Michigan, Father Wood obtained his education at St. Mary School. His priestly studies were begun at Sacred Heart Seminary, Detroit, and finished at Mount St. Mary in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was ordained May 30th, 1947. Father Wood arrived in Jackson in No- vember of 1948. Sophomores and Seniors have been instructed by him in religion. These classes provide much satisfaction and knowledge. His greatest joy from be- ing the Director of Athletics was received from the return of the famous Duffy Jug. On a golden summer day, when Father has finished his priestly duties and all other necessary tasks, he is most likely to be found on a golf course. 1 . eReverend Father Francis Murray - Assistant Pastor Father Murray began his seminary days at St. Joseph's, Grand Rapids. Then he was transferred to Sacred Heart at Detroit, and later moved to Mount St. Mary, Cincinnati, and finally finished at St. .Tohn's, Plymouth, Michigan. His day of ordination was June Znd, 1951. Residing in Kalamazoo, Father Murray, as a boy, attended St. Augustine School, our great rival. His first assignment was at St, John's, and we have had possession of him since August, 1951. Since then, the Fresh- men and Junior classes have benefited by his instruction in the religion class. The Altar Boys learn how to serve Mass under his diligent teaching. He is also in charge of the Boy Scouts, Troop 45. His friendly manner and love of joking is enjoyed by all his friends at St. John's. 6
