PAGF 36 AQUILA Thns year our dlrectress Engllsh and French teacher was Snster Magdalen who axded by F11 put us through our paces The pacmg was most enpoyable Agam Uncle Sam called and took David Lamarre Francls McKenna and Albert Slmoneau into the Navy So many repre sentatxves from our class vyere helping the cause nn World War II that vse began to speed up our sales nn war stamp and bond drxves m order to share rn the work Informal football ln the fall of our second year gaye a hmt of declxnmg mterest rn sports but the achrevement m basket ball mernted a bld to the Durham Tournament Hope for an upward trend nn the athletnc llne took root rn our hearts Before the year ended Tarzan Wescott a yery popular class We were glad that he had only two to break but were exceedingly sorry to lose thrs happy go lucky lad oe roots loudly for us from the Class of 1947 Much had been snzd of sezere man shortage For pzckzng 0 apples and beupmg uood cordage In erery emergency our seruce enlzsted Through the summer zn breath takmg uork ue persisted We were yunnors' That lmplled somethlng specxal the last step before the final leap john Parla did not respond when Snster Arthur called hrs name he had moved to Auburndale Two farr lassnes hastened mto our class to fill the empty space Vrrgmna Cerlello and Dorothy Peckham came to see lf our School spnrrt was really 100W They found that tt had been under rated so they stayed to publlcrze the fact Socral actxvmes sprang from nowhere The Chrnstmas formal was followed by two Confraternnty dances one rn Concord and one 1n Nashua but the dance of the year was the Senior Recep tnon a gala affanr indeed Father Francoeur organized hrs Schola Cantorum for the study of music and an appreclatlon of muslcal masterpieces The enrol ment was large Father left nothmg undone to achneve perfectlon Sports were decidedly on the upward trend thus year The football team acquired the title of runner up nn the New Hamp shlre Class C ranks Invltatnons to the Durham and New Eng land Catholxc tournaments were accepted and the team entered 'l'l'J'?'l'l l'l'.f'Idle!-.'l,l.jcI'l.ll.lllll01'.f'f'l'l'l l l'f 9 9 9 1 ' 1 ' Y 9 - ' V .
