Monsignor Buckley T the present time there is much heard and read about the results of offensive and defensive warfare One man sight or lack of it is greatly responsible for the victory or for the defeat A commander in chief is needed if order is to prevail in any undertaking Our director friend and adviser is our pastor Right Reverend Monsignor Buckley whose guidance has made our school life successful As students we are very much devoted to our pastor and are not insensible to the many splendid ideals which he con stantly presents to us We cannot talk to him for any length of time without learning something new He is always a firm supporter of the discipline of the school and has fre quently pomted out that departure from the rules and regula tions detracts from that high aim for God s honor and glory to which all Catholic high school students should aspire He taught us clearly that if the soul is right the whole life is right and that we should tram ourselves to right thinking and correct viewpoints in order to keep our souls right. It would be difficult to speak too highly of all that Mon- signor has done for us directly or indirectly during the many years that we have spent under his direction. Our gratitude to him is boundless. Our sincere wish is the hope that he may continue to inspire and direct for many years the future students of Saint 'lohn High School. No introduction will be needed for we lcnow her quite well. K 4 e I L K ' . . . . . . . . . .. . , e . e . e t N , HIS admirable young priest a graduate of Holy Cross College and Saint Bonaventure s Seminary has set a pace in Concord as yet unsurpassed Father Boner s character may be summed up in two words duty and action His personality his dominating presence and his power of eloquent appeal draw young and old alike to him Fearlessness and self con fidence give him that unconquerahle resolve and courage which face all dlILHCL1lflCS with composure Interested in all things that pertain to childhood he plays baseball and any other game that even the youngest child enjoys and what sparkling vim he introduces into the sport The delight and respect that the children show are ample reward for the time spent in making them happy Not only the altar boys but every student in the school is the object of Father Boners interest. All love him revere him and feel the conhdence in him that his Christlilce affect- tion for them stimulates. Q jolm Bur c PAGE I4 AQUILA Father Boner le Father Kenneally T seems such a short time ago since we said ave to a youth ful Catholic priest Father Kenneally Time marches on so relentlessly that a few months ago we offered our vale to him Thirteen years had elapsed between our cordial ave and our sad vale During this happy interlude Father Kenneally had found a place in the hearts of the parishioners of St John s Parish But it was to the boys and girls that he particularly endeared himself for they were nearest his heart On them he lavished his attention and efforts especially in the develop ment of the school athletic program ln Whlcll not 3 Slnglc group was overlooked His faithfulness was an inspiration His thoughtfulness in arranging an athletic program for the girls and younger boys made them feel that they too were a real part of the school s life The members of the graduating class of 1942 were particu larly fortunate because of the long association they were permitt d with this thoughtful kind self sacrificing and in spiring priest who seemed so much like a big brother coun- selling, encouraging cajoling inspiring as the particular circumstance demanded. He was a friend indeed to all. Now he has gone and we miss him. We miss his visits our class rooms' we miss his presence at our games' we miss his teasing from which he got so much fun--we miss him. His spirit will live with us who were privileged to lcnow him. With him go our best wishes and our earnest prayers for suc- cess.
