A Classy Night Dance a Smash at New Location On November 12, 1978, the Home- coming Dance was not held at Cerritos College for the first time in tive years, and the change in location was definitely for the better. The special atmosphere ofthe Long Beach Edgewater Hyatt House made the entire event more formal, more memorable, and very classy. All who attended were allowed the freedom of the Hyatt House's second floor and outdoor balcony, as well as the attractive ball- room and lobby. The band hired for the dance, Ele- fantef' played the theme song, Come Sail Away, excellently and added to the dance's emotional appeal by playing a wide selection of music. Songs included Hunnin' With the Devil, Miss You, 'lYesterday, and Feelin' Satisfied. When it came time for the Queen's Dance, everyone gathered around the dance floor as the Queen and Princesses were announced. ASB President Jim Colozzo, organizer and workhorse behind the event, introduced each Prin- cess and her escort. First came Junior Princess Rene Kuner and Senior Class President Tim Duenas, and Junior Princess Annette Breslin and ASB Sec- retary Paul Arranaga. Then came Sen- ior Princess Laura 0'Hair and ASB Vice-President Chuck McGivney, and Senior Princess Charlene Duarte and Senior Bob Boschetto. After the 1978 Homecoming Queen Donna Evans was introduced, she and her escort, Pat Bay, began the Queen's Dance, Baby, l Love Your Way, and probably set the record for time dancing before the boyfriend cut in. Then everyone began dancing as the last hour began and Eleiante went into their finale. The entire dance took on a very formal but relaxed air, as everyone acted in tune with the occasion. When the evening was over, everyone agreed that the dance had been the best organized and most enjoyable in years. 1. Members of Elefante1' crank out music to please the crowd 2. Donna Evans and Pat Bay lead the Oueen 's Dance 3. Bob Boschetlo relaxes between sets with his date 4. Everyone dances and enjoys the spirit of the evening Homecoming Dance 89
