The object of the Association is to promote the interest of Student Govern- ment and to stimulate interest in all activities than represent the school. The duties of the President and the Assistants are to be present at all meetings of the councilg to have all members co-operate in maintaining proper school discipline, to force regulations for the cleanliness of the school and school property, and above all, to maintain silence in corridors and in classrooms. In the event that any member of the school misbehaves to the extent that further disciplining is necessary, he or she is brought before the executive head of the Student Government, the judges and assistants, who carefully consider the case and sentence the offender according to the misdemeanor. My own opinion of Student Government is that it is a great advantage in as much as it has been adopted in our High Schools and Colleges. It leaves the student to feel that he or she has a direct interest in his co-workers, welfare as well as helping to put the student more or less on an honor system, thereby creating a feeling of greater responsibility in school discipline. A Wm1 111ff ipnrts Utes When the call for candidates for the 1991 football edition of St erome s was sounded the prospects were anything but bright Only two members of the great team of 1930 were on hand and the rest of the boys were small and inexperienced After a weeks preliminary drill at Sea Isle City we returned to Tamaqua and got down to hard work. By the time of the opening of the season we were fairly well trained in fundamentals and were anxious to test our plays and try our strength against a worthy opponent. Shenandoah Catholic High furnished the opposition for the season,s opener. Many errors were made but we came through with a 12-6 decision. Long runs by Sarli and the deadly tackling of Allison featured the game. On September 26th we visited our old rival, Coal Township. The weather for football was ideal and the crowd witnessed a hard fought battle. Both sides had a chance to score but lacked the necessary punch. The final score was O-0. Our second game at home found Mauch Chunk Catholic lining up against us. We defeated them 15-O, the result of two touchdowns and a safety. Young Adam Gigli found himself in this game and made several nice runs, aided by some good interference. Page arty eight
