.5 12. Initiation is only a mild form of intro- ductioncommonly found in schools and colleges, usually prevalent at the beginning of the school year. Usually the victims are the naive and unsuspecting newcomers - they are still too dazed and at sea to fight back and defend their rights. Initiation at St. Jerome's involves a parade along the main street of Kitchener with the paraders decked out in absurd and ludicrous costumes, performing all kinds of sheenanigans, much to the delight of the public who view it. Usually it provides a bonanza for camera fans, but this year con- ditions were different. The result is that we could obtain only one suitable picture to describe the event. The 'person' on the right is one of the victims - any resem- blance to the actual person is purely ac- cidental. H bn D one of the boys? SCENES FRUM THE HALLOWE'EN DANCE Sigma Iota Kappa sponsors and conducts the annual Hallowe'en Dance in cooperation with St. Mary's C.Y.O. Financially, and from the point of view of entertainment, it is always a great success, as it was again this year. Each year the crowd seems to grow, each year more original and more unusual costumes appear - this event should become traditional. 6fvu.412rm4 Ha.fyln1Fw5 Santa announces a gift Vengeance is mine, says Charlie The Annual Christmas Party for the boarders is a happy time - spirits are high because of the approaching vacation and holiday season. The resident students of St. Jerome's have come to look forward to this event. It provides an evening's relaxation, a chance to air budding talent, and, at times, even presents an opportunity for one of the more un- fortunate of the boys to even a score which otherwise would have remained the same.

Li W kl In January 1950, the first issue of the school paper was printed. It was nameless, two pages long and typed in capital letters. This paper was later called 'Sanctus Corridorus'fHoly Hallsl and retain- ed this name for the first three years of public- ation. The first editor was Robert England: Fred was his successor, Ronald Hagler was the third chief executive. In 1951 a new press was obtained, and aptly named the Printer's Devil because of the trouble it invariably caused. This year, However, our sup- eriors realized our need, and now we have a press that works. Deo Gratias! Israel EDITOR John Leyes On this and on the page following appear a few of the personages who made the week- ly printing of this paper possible. Had it not been for their untiring and devoted eff- orts, it is unlikely that the Lion Weekly would have appeared with the regularity that characterized it throughout 1952-1953. To those whose names appear in these pages, and to those whose names may have been forgotten, we extend our heartfelt thanks for their efforts throughout the year. A. Firetto - Cartoonist B.
