.5 12. Initiation is only a mild form of intro- ductioncommonly found in schools and colleges, usually prevalent at the beginning of the school year. Usually the victims are the naive and unsuspecting newcomers - they are still too dazed and at sea to fight back and defend their rights. Initiation at St. Jerome's involves a parade along the main street of Kitchener with the paraders decked out in absurd and ludicrous costumes, performing all kinds of sheenanigans, much to the delight of the public who view it. Usually it provides a bonanza for camera fans, but this year con- ditions were different. The result is that we could obtain only one suitable picture to describe the event. The 'person' on the right is one of the victims - any resem- blance to the actual person is purely ac- cidental. H bn D one of the boys? SCENES FRUM THE HALLOWE'EN DANCE Sigma Iota Kappa sponsors and conducts the annual Hallowe'en Dance in cooperation with St. Mary's C.Y.O. Financially, and from the point of view of entertainment, it is always a great success, as it was again this year. Each year the crowd seems to grow, each year more original and more unusual costumes appear - this event should become traditional. 6fvu.412rm4 Ha.fyln1Fw5 Santa announces a gift Vengeance is mine, says Charlie The Annual Christmas Party for the boarders is a happy time - spirits are high because of the approaching vacation and holiday season. The resident students of St. Jerome's have come to look forward to this event. It provides an evening's relaxation, a chance to air budding talent, and, at times, even presents an opportunity for one of the more un- fortunate of the boys to even a score which otherwise would have remained the same.

The purpose of this Fraternity is to foster social and recreational activities for the students of the High School Department of St. Jerome's College. Sigma Iota Kappa promotes many student activities during the course of the school year. A few of the more outstanding of these are recorded in the following pages, but space does not permit a complete description. The benefits offered by the Fraternity do not end when a student leaves the school, since an honorary membership is conferred upon all active members who graduate or discon- tinue their studies at St. Jerome's College. The officers for the current year are: President: Anthony VanHee, Scotland, Ontario. Secretary: John Reinhardt, Stratford, Ontario. Treasurer: Bernard Weber, Detroit, Michigan. The office of moderator is capably filled by the disciplinarian, Brother John Traynor. Sigma Iota Kappa has been a powerful asset to the boarders of St. Jerome's College, and will continue to carry on its invaluable services in the many school years to come at St. Jerome's.
