This year the school assemblies followed parliamentary procedure. Each meeting was prepared beforehand to inform the students of coming spiritual and social activities. The assembly was then turned over to various members of the staff who made general comments concerning various aspects of school activities. X I 1 'V F. Nowak makes a presentation to Father Killoran on behalf of the team. Afhlehc Dance The Athletic Dance, held November 21st, was the Sodality's first activ- ity of the year. In past years this dance was sponsored by the Athletic Committee, but this year it was as- signed to the Sodality, under the dir ection of the Athletic Director, Fr. Killoran, who managed the financing, while the Social Life Committee under took the task of decorating the hall, printing tickets and other organizat- ional activities. The Publicity Com- mittee advertized the event. Although it was impossible to obtain an orch- estra, music was supplied from rec- ordings. Entertainment in the form of a demonstration of the Charleston, humorous skits and a vocal duet was provided by the Arts Students. Those who braved the damp weather of the Mr. Faust Our Coach evening were well rewarded for their trouble. Presentations on behalf of both the Junior and Senior Football teams were made to Father Killoran and Mr. Faust who congratulated the teams on their season's showing and than- ked the players for their consider- ion. Y' Seated: D. Mowat, C. Westfall, B. Weber. Standing: A. Busch. The aim of the Catholic Truth Committee is to spread the knowledge of the Catholic Faith through the reading of Catholic literature by the students of St. Jerome's. To achieve this end, the members of the Committee sold the Catholic Digest to the students each month. Talks on good books which might be found in our library, based on suggesyions given by Father Lehman were given at various assemb- lies. l 5' fi Seated: D. Heit, F. Fellner. Standing: M. Levings, G. Kloepfer. The purpose of the Apostolic Committee is to spread the Faith among those who do not have it and to help the missions with prayers and financial contributions. We do this by our Lenten Mission Drive for clothes, books and money. Last year we col- lected SADC. and sent many boxes of books, missals and clothing to the Indian Missions in the West. Thus the little contributions of nickels and dimes go from us to the mission- aries all over the world to help with the propagation of the Catholic Faith. Social Life Committee The main purpose of this branch of the Sodality is the promotion of social activ- ities such as dances, sleigh-rides, etc. This is an important work: its results this year have been gratifying. By prov- iding good Catholic recreation for the Sodalists, more interest is aroused in the other branches of the organization. This increased interest makes the students more willing to undertake the tasks as- signed them as members of our group. Zi il? Seated: R. Shoup, D. Papillon, P. Houston Standin : D. Sandrock, G. Schwenker, E. Drlowski. Absent: D. Putnam, J. Power. The Publicity Committee this year was ' responsible for all the colorful posters and advertisments seen in the halls of St. Jerome's, St. Mary's and in the down- town restaurants. Thus the committee is partially responsible for the success of any and all activities undertaken by the Sodality. This involves a great deal of work and takes up much time. The com- mittee can feel proud of its work and feel certain of the approval of the stu- dent body.

Soclolilg 'Recepfion December 8th saw many new Sodalists received into the Sodality of Our Lady. This was a memorable day for all concerned. We know that Our Lady was pleased with us and will rem- ember her followers for their devotion when trials and temptations come. The ceremonies were held in St. Mary's Church where Father Sobisch, our Director, received the new mem- bers. O N5 0+ Father Sobisch enrolls new Sodalists M' A- R. I A1 Sock-hops After the Christmas vacation basketball games were played in our gym now and then, and sock-hops usually accompanied them. After the excitement of the game, the spectators took over the floor and enjoyed dancing to music supplied by the recordings of the Athletic Department. Mardi Gros X L Q A lx -:a-'?L1- . 'UQJ The King and Queen, Anthony Van Hee and Carol Hummel, after the coronation. Mardi Gras time rolled around once again - this year it was held on the evening of Tuesday, February 17th. This project, although sponsored by the girls of St. Mary's High School is looked on with interest by St. Jerome's Sodality for the simple reason that the Sodality is the only organization in the school in a position to promote our end of it. At this year's dance all attendance records were equalled, if not broken - St, Mary's deserve congratulations for its success. Last year's regal couple, Frank Nowak and Maureen Meinzinger presented the crowns to the new king and queen, Anthony VanHee and Carol Hummel. This was the last of social activities before the Lenten season.
