His territory was large and there were no prospective priests who might aid him in his work. With a view to the future he opened a high school in the village of St. Agatha to train native cler gy to help him in his missionary work. In l86L his brother Louis, also a priest of the Congregation, joined him, and immediately opened a college under the patronage of St. Jerome. By 1866 the school had grown so much that the first building was no longer adequate. A new building was purchased in Berlin, now Kitchener, and the school was transferred there. Additions to this original building were made in 1886 and 1909. Now, in 1953, St. Jerome's has so grown that it is again expanding - this time to new buildings on the outskirts of Kitchener. The buildings of the present St. Jerome's will continue to to house the High School Department, while the new St. Jerome's will be the home of the Intensive Latin and College Departments. St. Jerome's College, as well as other schools in Ontario and Kentucky, is con- ducted by the Fathers of the Congregation of the Resurrection. This Congregation also conducts parishes in these same localities, and preaches home missions throughout eas- tern Canada and the north-eastern part of the United States. The Prefecture of Bermuda with its missions is in the charge of the Congregation. ST JEROME'S COLLEGE is under the direction of the Fathers of THE CONGREGATION OF THE RESURRECTION
