-1 their fourteenth game of the season. The Eagles downed the Walkerville quintet to the tune of 60-40. After a series of games on home ground, the mighty Eagles travel to Walkerville to play off What a Basketball Season means to Us . . . After all the games are played, schedules completed, letters distributed, and congratulations meted out to the de- serving, equipment stored away, when all is said and done and perhaps forgotten, one thing will always remain-the kind of character that results from a season of competition and sportsmanship in basketball. And that is the one thing that all of us here at St. Jean have been primarily interested in. Developing character is the reason for the schedule, t-he games, the stiff competition, the cheering, the wins and losses. The entire basketball season is focused at one point-Catholic character in our young men and women. REV. ERNEST BERNOTT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR. I feel sure that our '52-'53 basketball season has accom- plished this aim in large measure. lt was grand to see the fine school spirit, people have admired the fine sportsmanship throughout the season of competition. I was particularly impressed with the good behavior on the part of the student body and the athletes, your Pastor was happy to see an increase in the reception of the sacraments. These items add up to Catholic Christian character, and we are proud of it. One last word: Our wins or losses will soon be forgotten, but character continues into our future lives and on into eternity. Continue to proiect into your future lives the lessons of character that come from a season of basketball competition, That is the kind of equipment that will contribute to a future happy life, and make for a preparation for Heaven.
