To the credit of the defense, all Red victories were shutouts. Averaging 21 points per game, the Shads scored 168 to their opponents' 62. The first two games - perhaps the toughest - proved humbling. But Mr. Davis, the new head coach, inspired pride. ll-iis Ha Shake, Salt 'n' Pepper and Big Red Beat routine will long be rememberedj Momentum generated, and the Shads started to win. Losses to Claremont and Randolph cost a chance at the Centennial championship, but the victory over Mazeppa was especially sweet. Somehow the Shad defense in the waning minutes was able to withstand seven attempts from almost right on the Shattuck goal line. Junior Bruce Foster got the Capron trophy as Most- Valuable player. Flakne, Cobb, Likovich, and Foster made All- Conference. K .,. . y W A fi QW K
