FFA President twenty-five years ago was Richard Hunstad. Today it is Wayne Jurgens. FFA-GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY A Golden Past- A Brighter Future 1977-78 was not only the 50th anniver- sary of the founding of the Natonal FFA organization but it was a special year for the St. James chapter who celebrated their 25th silver anniversary year. At the chap- ter's anniversary banquet, president and advisors from the past 25 years attended. A history of achievements and highlights of the chapter was presented by Mr. Busch. Activities throughout the year included the National Convention, FFA week, corn drive for Camp Courage, Children's Barn- yard at the Watonwan County Fair, State Convention, and the Parent-Member Ban- quet. Wayne Jurgens and Brad Ahrenstorff participated at the state level for profi- ciency awards. The general livestock team was th in state, competition. Dave Sturm, Wayne Jurgens, Brad Arhenstorff, Kevin Spitzner, Gary Parker, and Wes Beck received the State Farmer Degree. Wayne Jurgens was the Region Six Crop Proficiency winner. Always interested in Conservation and saving energy, the FFA does its part to conserve metals. Joe Frisch, Charles Rust, and Curt Haler are the can crushers!

FHA Homemakers Help The Handicapped 1977-78 proved to be a busy year for the St. James FHA. They sponsored the first dance of the year as a fundraiser, and they sent delegates to both the District and State FHA Conventions. The first Region- al Action Events Contest was sponsored by the St. James chapter. Deb Johnson re- ceived statewide recognition as one of the top ten salespeople in the state of Minne- sota. She won $100 for selling 70 Helpful Hints booklets. To celebrate FHA week, March 13-17, members sold Shamrocks for Dystrophy and the offi- cers greeted the student body each morning with the daily announcements. Besides the menu for the day the FHAer's added some food for thought with a special saying. Randy Lantz won the title of FHA beau, and the FHA hosted a faculty breakfast.
