EXCHANGE STUDENT Cebu City Is Home For Dolores Suarez In July of 1976, Dolores de Guzman Suarez, a Rotary Exchange Student from the Philippines came to St. James to study and observe the life styles of the Ameri- can people. While in St. James she stayed with the Gary Wolners, Dr. Glaydem Kern's, and Vance Watkins. Between school and Rotary activities she was kept very busy, but before she left she remarked, It was a wonderful year and I'll never forget it. On January 6 and 7, we also had thirteen foreign students roaming the halls who were participating in the Student Council's Foreign Exchange Festival. They came on a Thursday and left that Saturday spending most of their time in school or at related activities. Dolores, once more classified as a Senior, (she grad- uated in the Philipines) took mostly senior classes during her year at St. James. Walking from class to class made many new friends for Dolores, and very soon she was one of us! Many exchange students from the surrounding area came to visit Dolores on Jan. 6-7. They attended the Was- eca Basketball game in addition to attending classes. A dance followed the game. 26

ROW 4: K. Bemdt (mgr. ) B. Ahrenstorff, M. Flohrs, M. Swenson, C. Rust (mgr.) and T. Lupke. Coaches: Mr. Johnson, Mr. Rasmussen, Mr. Emerson, Mr. Dose, and Mr. Price. PRIDE and SELF DEVELOPMENT would be the two key words that would charac - terize the 1976 fighting Saints football squad. It took a great deal of pride to go through the weeks of hard drills, first in hot, humid weather, then in freezing tem- peratures, in order to develop into a win- ning football team. This year's squad was willing to pay that price, as a result they developed themselves into a winning foot- ball team, with a winning attitude. Award winners on this year's team include: Tri- Captains: Matt Gosche, Dan Sturm, and Greg Windschill: most valuable linemen: Brad Klebel, Blaine Goor, Most Valuable back: Greg Windschill, Most Improved player: Charles Stark, All Conference: Terry Schiller, Greg Windschill, Blaine Goor, and Brad Klebel. Only one to get by for a touchdown, but Dave Zumwalt can't quite make it, and gets nailed.
