SPIRIT WEEK Spirit Sparks Student Action Perhaps Mother Nature was a bit miffed because the Student Council changed the name of the annual Snow . Week to Spirit Week , for she hit us with a neat little blizzard on the day it began! It all began a few days before when a competition was held for the best decorated hallway. The Sophs, won the competition. Starting Monday all were to wear odd socks, Tuesday it was wierd hats. Wednesday was dress down day, Thursday was dress of the '50s, and Friday was school colors day. Also on Friday a series of hilarious contests were held, (see Pictures.) The focus of Spirit Week was two wrestling matches and a basketball game. The Fairmont basketball game and Hutch wrestling match were won, but the matmen lost a toughie to Mankato, the only loss of the season. Spirit Week, however was a success. A pie in the face is worth two on the floor. ---------John Peifer. Who were the decorators of the door welcoming? Was it celebrants of Snow Week or the snow storm that began the week? 15 Mother Nature cooperated with Snow Week, newly named Spirit Week , by contributing a snow storm on Monday.

Nancy Anderson, complete with crash helmet, awaits the starting signal in the tricycle race. It is rather doubtful that Bob Rinne's entry in the plane flying contest would pass a C. A.B. inspection! Under yards and yards of T. P. you will find Pat Warner and Peg Sawatzke, who wound up the most wound up . He couldn't beat Ken Besel, but beautiful Bottem , Dave that is, gave it a good try. 16
