FALL PLAY As the cast looks on, Paul Windschill presents Mr. Plumhoff with a token of their appreciation. “I Remember Mama' The Senior class proudly presented a dramatic comedy in two acts, I Remem- ber Mama . Set in San Francisco in the early 1900's, the story involved a family of Norwegian immigrants and their prob- lems with money, illness, and meddling Uncle Chris. Daughter Dagmar and cousin Arne both have operations, and Aunts Sigrid and Jenny complain and gossip about that, along with everything else. Aunt Trina wants a dowry so she can marry the undertaker, but Uncle Chris refuses. Mr. Hyde, the boarder, turns out to be a crook despite his gentlemanly ways. Katrin graduates and grows up, being allowed to drink coffee, but doesn't meet with success as a writer until telling the story of Mama's visit to the hospital. Uncle Chris dies leaving no will, having used his money in helping many lame people walk, including Arne; this changes the aunt's attitude to one of ad- miration instead of dislike. In the end, Mama, who has held the family together, reveals that their secu- rity, a bank account, is nonexistent, but everything works out for the best. Much of the credit went to Mr. Plumhoff for patiently (?) directing the play and also to the fine stage crew. It was hard work but LOTS of fun! Left: I'm sorry, but I'm not sorry I told, yells Christine as Mama and Papa observe their stubborn daughter. Below: Katrin comforts the dying Uncle Chris by promising to remember him.
