THE VARSITY got off to a good start this year by defeating Minnetonka 13-7. The third game of the year had the St. James team up against one of the Southern Minnesota powerhouses. We lost the game to Worthington 18-6, but the future looked bright for the conference games ahead. Our first conference game was with Blue Earth, which was also our homecoming. It was an excit- ing game in which we came out on top 7-0. Cur arch rival, Fairmont, pro- vided the most exciting game of the season. Fairmont won the game 25-19 on a 70 yard pass with 16 seconds left. St. James never seemed to recover from that loss, as they lost their remaining games to St. Peter and Waseca. St. James placed third in the conference and had a record of 4 wins and 5 defeats for the season. THE B TEAM, lef by Gordon Buggc, highest scorer of the season; started this year very successfully by defeating their first two opponents, Windom 19-6 and Lake Crystal 14-0 . . . Then came the thriller which was lost to Blue Earth 6-0. The runaway of the year followed with the Bombers downing New Urn 5-6 ... A late season slump came upon them when they lost the last two games to Mankato and Fairmont, 7-6 and 18-6 respectively. Terry Haws, Head Football Coach; Bob Woehrle Athletic Director 22
