senior history With a shock that rocked the school, we launched ourselves on our high school career in September of 1949. Clem Belcher led the class as prexy, with Marilyn Evans, Lucille Menne, and Sherry Beck as his cabinet . Our first exploit was decorating the hall for homecoming. We did the job up big -- lockers and all. Funny thing, the administration didn't seem to appreciate our efforts . . . Time moved on . . . Blizzards made some of the days more fun, as always ... We finally made it through algebra . . . business training . . . science . . . Suddenly we no longer had freshman hall to call our own . . . Proud of our new estate on third floor, and glad to be no longer the green freshmen, we began our sophomore year . . . The year seemed to pass quietly . . . we slaved over hot typewriters . . . cut up worms . . . worked for the day when we could call ourselves juniors . . . Junior year . . . Again Clem ruled, Mary Mueller, Marilyn Evans, and Donna as his aides . . . We did a bang-up job on the upper hall -- we thought . . . Next on the agenda was the class play . . . Clem and Hanna in the romantic lead of Mother Is a Freshman , with an all-star supporting cast . . . Class rings came early in the new year; prettier than ever, so said we . . . school hurried by, soon it was time to start on the prom . . . With a theme of Dutch Garden to be fulfilled, a lot of time went into the making of flowers . . . The night of the prom holds memories for most . . . Spring . . . national honor society . . . Arlene Nibbe, Marilyn Evans, Jo- anne Sandbo, Joe Semoc and Jim Behrends taking the honors for the jun- iors . . . An event of the year was the musical put on by the choral groups . . . Exams . . . We're seniors! Joanne Sandbo and Joe Semoc represented us at Girls' and Boys' State . . . Our superior officers turned out to be Dennis (the Menace) Bottem, Jim (Don't get gay) Behrends, and Ardell (Blondie) Lunz . . . The head couple of the class, Clem Belcher and Betty Romsdahl, turned out to be our King and Queen . . . Captain Clem Belcher led the Saints to an unde- feated football season . . . Four of our girls, Lenore, Elayne, Ardell, and Dona, have their plans around their left ring fingers . . . Donald Hammer took advantage of the peace and quiet (??) of Mr. Haw's Chemistry class. Even Clem and Jim's household ammonia didn't help wake him up! . . . Time to watch the birdie and have our senior pictures taken. Ouch! Those stiff white collars! . . . Christmas brought the surprise party in Chemistry, the day Mr. Haws was planning something else . . . Macbeth hath murdered sleep was the by-word of the sleepy seniors after spend- ing a night on their English projects . . . We spunky seniors slightly al- tered one teacher's vocabulary, All right ! . . . The time for the class play rolled around once more . . . Prom time, and we all had a good time just like last year . . . Finally, graduation time and we are no longer Sen- iors, but men and women of the world, the best class yet! ! 26
