IN MEMORIAM His friendly smile, gentle ways, and thoughtful consideration for others leave behind a memory of Joseph Scelfo that can never be eradicated. As time passes, we miss Joe more and remember more about him. In class he worked quietly and intelligently, a steady influence on us. His inability to play basketball did not stop him from athletic participation. Instead, as manager of the team, he appeared at every game with his scoreboard under his arm. At parties and dances he showed his usual good humor and always joined in the fun. His frequent attendance at Mass and reception of Holy Communion inspired us all. He was not dramatically heroic. He lived a simple, average life as we are living now. But whatever he did he did well. He wasted no time because his time was short. Joe’s absence can never be replaced, and the memory of him will live forever in the hearts of the Class of 1958.

DEDICATION With deepest sincerity and appreciation we, the Senior Class of 1958, dedicate this yearbook to Sister Mary Sheila. We will remember forever an individual who personifies gentleness and kindness—one who never hesitates to offer a few moments of precious time to help some student solve his smallest problem—always an inspiration in religious as well as extra curricular activities—ever willing to co-operate in all that we set out to achieve. When we leave St. James, we will carry in our hands our diplomas and in our hearts the memory of a dynamic personality, Sister Sheila—our eternal friend, to whom we dedicate this 1958 Pelican.
