Class Hzstory In the year of Our Lord 19.36 m the 9th month and the 7th day a group of w1de eyed open mouthed youngsters w 1 nded the1r way towards St James unlted bv a common bond the pursult of Knowledge Among these students our graduatlng class of 1948 llsts the names ol Leland Nunez George Anthony Decoux Barbara Hebert Leona Broussard Wondola Eastman B1lly Steele Bobby Somner Gerald Dolese Nathan Broussard DIXIE Cappel Darrell DeV1ll1er Karl Holller and Ronald Therlot Our flrst teacher was Slster Thomas who executed her best efforts to ground us IH the fundamentals The most memorable of th1s year was our flrst Communion Day Slsters Assumpta Reglna and Chrrstopher gulded us safely through the second th1rd fourth and f1fth grades Dur1ng th1s tlme we were Jolned by Edsel Tltus Gerald Barr1lleaux Beverly Melancon Mary K Delcambre Clarence Thomas and J C Hebert In the s1xth grade we had the honor of lflhefltlflg Room 8 of the new br1ck elementary school whvch was constructed that year Slster Catherme was our teacher and we were very proud to see the BlShOp come to bless the school that year and commend our efforts In the seventh and e1ghth grades Slster Gerard taught us and we re CClVGd our drplomas of graduatlon from the grammar school on Max 26 1944 Another great mllestone was reached when we entered hlgh school l1sh however Wlth our characterrstle good Wlll and the grace of God we trlumphed Of course much of the cred1t for th1s goes to the unt1r1ng ef forts of our good teachers who by admomtlon and encouragement made xt posslble for us to dlgcst enough knowledge ln order to stamp us Passed Add1t1onal members to the class were L1onel DeRouen Gwen Schex navder J W Broussard Eula Mac Burke Valentlne Ollvere and Orphlne Savar1ste who 1o1ned us ln the freshman year In the Junlor year Edward Stelly and Roberta Mosgrove declded that they llked our company and dc clded to stay w1th us In the senlor year John LaMarr Joe Holland Joyce Costlow Tvrus blbley, L C Schoate Frank Garcla and Joe Pr1ce Jomed us Our h1story though br1ef lncludes many happy days fllled wxth s1m ple yoys whlch we w1ll always chcrxsh At t1mes l1ttle shadows have dlmmed their radlance but th1s lb symbohc of all earthy Joys Wh1Ch w1ll be only perfected ID cternltx . .
