Class Prophecy Well here I am back 1n Port Arthur after 15 years absence but then of course everyone has to come back for Old Home Week It IS now the year 1963 and a beautlful evenlng 1n October as the weather IS always beautlful 1n Port Arthur Everywhere here 1n our lovely town of Port Arthur are seen huge posters readmg Old Home Week In v1tat1ons have been sent to all former res1dents urgmg them to attend and stressmg th1s even1ng part1cularly as we are hav1ng a program here con s1st1ng ch1efly of home talent Everv performer was graduated from our dear Alma Mater St James Hlgh Every seat 1n the vast new aud1tor1um IS f1lled Thls aud1tor1um 1S a tr1fle d1fferent from the one our old class had back 1n 48 It IS located dlrectly back of the pr1ests home Where formerly was located Ploneer Park The new aud1tor1um eas1ly covers half the area that was formerly the park Everyone IS relax1ng 1n the lovely plush bottom seats Seated IH the aud1ence are many celebr1t1es As I look about me I see many of my old classmates Ah I see seated near the front Nathan Brous sard our k1nd hearted fr1end who never d1d say much though he has now become very wealthy through w1se 1nvestments He has become a noted ph1lanthrop1st The lad1es are all styl1shly dressed 1n beaut1ful gowns wh1ch I am told come from the very select not to say expens1ve shop of Betty Engl1sh She IS here herself and looks the glass of fash1on and the mold of form Seated near her IS Ronald Ther1ot a real estate dealer who owns so much property that he has to keep a card 1ndeX Seated at one Slde I see Roberta Mosgroxe d1gn1f1ed and haughty I ask about her and am told that she IS the head m1stress of a very fash1on able g1rls school 1n Houston She has never marr1ed although she has 1n numerable sultors Stand1ng 1n the door look1ng for old fr1ends I f1nd J W Broussard ed1tor of the largest dally paper 1n the state and verv act1ve pOl1t1C3l1y Except that he has grown a tr1fle stouter and looks even more cheerful than ever he has not changed one b1t s1nce h1s h1gh school days Two people enterlng YGCGIVB a warm receptlon from the commlttee at the door They are Dr Orph1ne Savar1ste and d1gn1f1ed as ever Joyce Costlow Orph1ne has become a famous surgeon at a large hosp1tal and Joyce IS supermtendent of nurses 1n the same hosp1tal If there are any accldents ton1ght we feel sure the sufferers w1ll be properlv attended to Wlth Dr Orph1ne and nurse Joyce on the Job A round of applause greets the man just enter1ng He waves h1s hand around and talks eXC1tCdly and fast Now I know It IS Leland Nunez He has turned h1s knowledge of astronomy and meterology 1nto good account and now he s the weather man He furn1shed th1s wonderful weather we re havxng for Old Home Week ! 7 9 as rv , ' . Wil D1x1e Cappell DIXIE IS a Ploneer student around St Jame H1s face IS a famlhar one around the campus and Cappell IS a well lxked person H1s love for horses has urged h1m to enter college at A 8a M where he wxll study to become a Veterlnarlan Karl Holller Karl lettered ln football ln 45 46 and 47 He was a basketball letterman m 46 and 47 Bemg very actlve ln all sports Karl also lettered ln track ln 45 46 and 47 He plans to study P E Karl was Duke of the Senlor Ball ln 46 all state half back IH 46 Joe Holland Joe IS a new student at St James He ,ame from Semor Hxgh and ln a short perlod of txme blossomed Into a good football player He let tered 1n thls sport IH 47 Joe lS a pleasant person to know and we have come to recognlze h1m as the boy wlth the hat Floyd DeRoche Floyd has a pleaslng personallty and alwavs has a smile for everyone Floyd has been very ac tlve ID all the various sports and the record shows he lettered ln football ln 46 and 47 he was a track letterman m 45 member of the Sodallty 1n 45 and 47

Class Prophecy A man SItS sketchmg the people as they come 1n and he does a very good Job of It 1ndeed Of course It IS Edsel T1tus Remember how Edsel would s1t for hours on end compos1ng h1s wonderful drawmgs Well all that wasnt done 1n va1n He now draws for a noted magazme f1rm Here comes a d1gn1f1ed handsome f1gure who IS to make the welcome speech ton1ght It IS 1ndeed our famous class debater W1ll1am Steele He IS now a yudge of the State Supreme Court Oh there IS MISS Gweyn Schexnayder propr1etor and owner of the Inches Away reducmg salon Im not at all surprlsed to hear that Gwen n1e has come lnto such a profltable busmess as she always d1d have a love of beautlful f1gures As several busmess men enter we see J C Hebert of Hebert s Best To1let Soap He has grown portly and gray about the temples but he 1s 1mmaculate as a soap manufacturer should be Hls motto IS sewed on h1s eoat Keep the world clean Alongs1de Mr Hebert I see Bobby Sonn1er propr1etor and owner of a large da1rv farm We all remember how Bobby used to l1ke to s1t up all n1ght so he makes the dellverles hlmself at 3 oclock each morn1ng just tor fun vou know In th1s sane group we see the noted p1an1st Llonel DeRouen who has 1ust returned from h1s second great concert tour 1n Europe In fact he re turned a week early IH order to attend Old Home Week I am told he plays better than ever and I not1ce Llonel has not changed much s1nce h1gh school day S The crowd s attentlon has shlfted to the door agaln and we see enter 1ng M1ss Marx Delcambere now orgamst 1n a c1ty church and teacher 1n an 1nst1tute of organ muslc She looks not a day older than when she play ed for our glee clubs And now we see Wlth a l1ttle book 1n h1s hand Darrel DeV1ll1er the author of those dellghtful short stor1es He cla1ms that frlends ln old Port Arthur msplred many of h1s wonderful stor1es Darrel was always such a poetwc creature I do behexe that lb Leona Broussard enterlng now Leona has become quxte a busmesswoman and IS the owner ot the famed cha1n of Broussard s Drugs She lb as lovely as ever IN an elaborate gown and a stunnlng halr do and we note that she st1ll has that well groomed appearance Ex erx one looks toward the door agaln We see It IS Edward Stelly chem1st IH a laboratory that IS known all OVC1 the world I-le has been very sueeessful 1n experxments Every germ st1lI 1n exlstence wears a l1fe pre selxer ln dread fear of Mr Stelly Here to the r1ght we see Karl Holller owner and manager of the huge Cham of restaurants known all over the world as the Eat and Run Restaur ants He IS marrled to the champ1on pancake flopper of the state - . , .
