There Was a Lady in His Life- The valedictorian ended his address. Ap- plause was deafening. He had stirred hearts, for his was an impulse for perfec- tion. The exercises over, countless friends were on hand to cheer. He was a leader- outstanding in his school, athletically and socially. His mother was not there, she had died some years before. His father sat sob- bing, apart from the crowd. It was strange that he should cry, but he had received both a blow and a thrill! He, of all that happy throng, knew what was in the young man's heart-the resolve to leave within days to begin a religious vocation dedicated to the Mother of God.
