FATHERS CLUB Rx Al BFRT I IABUHN I In October 1932 a small gloup of fathus of St Ignatlus students met to conslder the proposal that a Fathers Club be formed was suggested that a Club of thus klnd could be of ass1stance to the Jesult Fathers m mam nays The ldea was enthuslastlcally accepted and the club was formed Durmg the ensumg vears through the efforts ol the members of the club 1n cooperatxon wlth the faculty o the school many thmgs mutuallv benetlclal were accompllshed Durmg the early years th Fathers Club met ln xarlous sectlons of the cxty Prom thls pollcy we have the present dav roster of of uc rs Presxdent James A Mahoney Vlce Presldents Milton Steffen Elmore Sammons west Earl McLaughl1n southeast Mark lVIc Donough south Damel harper suburban and John Zeman central The Treasurer IS James McGu1re the Secretarxes are J M Hooxer flnanclal Louls Graham correspondlng Jerry Herldes recordlng Among the varxous enterprlses conducted bv th1s group two stand out 1n bold rellef ln the mmds of the students These two are t1ad1 txonally mamtamed on a father son bas1s and hence are symbolxc IH a sense as well as suc cessful The flrst of these IS the annual Fall Fest1val and Homecommg The second I9 the vearlv Father and Son Nxght The Fall Pestxval along NVltl'l thc Annual tard Party of the Mothers Club accounts fox much of the modern equlpment throughout the school IU rec nt vears These act1v1t1es also contrlbute largely to the ab1l1ty of the school to asslst deservmg bovs who mlght Otl1SI'YVlSB be deprlved of a Cathollc secondarv educatlon to attend St lgnatlus New stu dents are amazed at the magmflcent outlay of Drlzes at the Fall Festlval but that IS onlx because they are as yet unacqualnted wlth the ohdly establlshed and long standlng coopera txon that exlsts among the members of the Fathers Club Thls year the Father and Son Nlght fxlled Damen Hall to capacltv desplte weather that was very lnclement The great attent1on to detall and the courteous recept1on glven to every 1nd1v1dual that mght could not but 1n sp1re the coldest personahtles to sxlent wonder Yet It would not have been posslble w1thout long hours of planmng on the part of many fathers and complete and selfless sacrlflce on the part of manv more To them we thelr sons may well look w1th admlratlon W1thout a doubt the members of the Fa thers Club flnd much of their msplratlon for th1s work IH the Annnal Day of Recollectlon A large group of fathers always attend thus prmclpal functlon of the orgamzatlon FATHER?
