Canned Food Drive manifests Christmas sharing Although winter certainly arrived, no weather conditions could hamper Ignatians in December. On the athletic scene the Bulldogs of 4-B chewed up the 4-C Spot-Run to win the intramural football championship. December had its glorious moments in sports, but Ignatians did more than play. Their annual canned-food drive made many Christmas dinners on the Near West Side a little more tasty. Although the next day Ignatians left school for the holidays, December saw many return for basketball games and a Christmas mixer. The year's last month passed quietly as a sleeping Ignatius awaited an exciting new year. Even while recuperating from a delicate knee operation, Jim Moroney continued his search for original ideas for senior comments, Caught up in the spirit of one ol Mr. Davignon s symphonic jam sessions, Mark Schmitz dreams ol a career with the Salvation Army. student tile 19

Back to the books after the semester break, sophomore Al Hewitt finds himself surrounded by glass. (old steel, and silence. Time of renewal stresses Friendship Ignatians fully refreshed by a long Christmas vacation turned their minds to cramming four months of knowledge into one week of hard study for semester exams. Meanwhile, seniors put their new year's resolution into action, determined to make senior slump all it was cracked up to be. Although some upperclassmen lingered at school to help with the underclassmen retreats, they didn't mind at all as semester exams had already become just a black mark in the past. Many other seniors spent this time celebrating and planning their final semester's festivities. During this time a refreshed Wildcat basketball machine never stalled once as Ignatius netters marked victory after victory in the West Senate standings. January came during the middle of a hectic school year, but 1971'$ first month somehow gave all of Ignatius a fresh start. Warm lights, soft carpeting, and a new friend. Mr. Chris Schulte, melt Marty Sweeney's scheduled day into a fleeting moment of peace. 20 student life 4
