OHUCl£ ie THE THREE TRAITS THAT DEFINE AN IGNATIAN Competence. Conscience. Compassion. To the students and faculty of St. Ignatius, these words not only describe esteemed virtues, but are the qualities that comprise an Ignatian. Throughout our four years at $1, we develop an awareness of the men and women we strive to become. We build competence whether in the classroom, on stage and on the athletic field. We build con- science as we study morality and ethics and apply these values to our daily lives. We build compassion every time we are selfless and act as men and women with and for others. From community building to serving others, Ignatians never stop advocating for a better tomorrow. We learn to evaluate how our ac- tions, whether big or small, affect others and the world around us. With our time at SI, we travel a long way to truly become fully alive, where we release all pretenses and act justly. Ultimately, with faith, we become competent, conscientious, and compassionate individuals whose actions serve for the greater glory of God. Melanie Mistica '08 ' ('fctio- ((. ()nt

TOGETHER, SERVING Men and women with and for others: a subject important to the mission of SI. During the four years one spends here, he or she is taught the importance of helping and living in solidarity with others. Our Religious curriculum opens new opportunities to learn about Scripture, faith, ethics and morality. During student-led retreats, students discover their spirituality and learn more about themselves and others. Out- side of the classroom, SI provides numerous ways to experience service and work in soli- darity with others: ranging from Thursday morn- ing Comfort Runs to two-week Immersion trips. Community service is an important compo- nent of Si's commitment to helping others. As students, it is essential to understand our abil- ity to help and guide individuals as provide hope and compassion for others. The connec- tion that students experience at his or her site is an unparalleled one that changes the way they look at the world. Through the many op- portunities SI students have to become men and women with and for others, each Ig- natian develops a new appreciation to find ways to help others in need to truly change the world.
