Dance Concert The SI Dance Department put together an exciting Dance Concert in late January, cleverly entitled tetMCATS with a theme that included songs from both modern and traditional Broadway musicals. Under the direction of Ms. Meredith Cecchin and Mr. Ted Curry, along with guest choreographer Ms. Lizette Ortega, the concert displayed lively performance skills and creative talents of Advanced, Advanced-Intermediate, and Intermediate dancers. Student choreography included Ginger Davis and Emily Rinaldi’s Hedwig and ihe Angry Inch, Katie Caughman and Amanda Garcia’s RENT, and Catherine Abalos and Maxine Evangelista’s Movin’ Out. In the opening number, “I Hope I Get It from A Chorus Line, the members of the Dance Workshop program donned their fanciest warm-up clothes and shared personal headshots as if attending a dance audition. Other dance selections included hits from Fosse, Hairspray, RENT, Chicago, The Lion King, and Les Misera hies. The dance concert traditionally ended with a special dance from the Seniors. All lined up in golden hats, each senior one by one had her own personal time to soak in the spotlight with an individual bow. The rest of the cast later joined them in an outstanding finale to “One (Reprise)” from A Chorus Line. Not only was this year’s dance concert hill of unforgettable and catchy songs, but it was full of lasting memories as well. - Maxine Evangelista ‘05 Intermediate: Monika Choo, Sinead Doherty, HlizaK-th Driscoll.
