Immersion 2003 This past summer, SFs eight Immersion groups set out to lend a helping hand to different communities throughout our world. The lucky participants were lovingly welcomed where they served. Each group was given the opportunity to witness and take part in the customs and traditions of a culture different from their own. They faced challenges in their new communities; whether it was building a house or getting to know different people. Stereotypes are often linked to the communities that these groups traveled to. But, the groups got past these once they got to know the individuals within the communities. All participants lived very simply, just as the people do in Tijuana, East Los Angeles, Birmingham, Tacoma, Appalachia, San Francisco, Northern Ireland, and Costa Rica. For all who were lucky enough to take part on an Immersion trip, their experiences proved to be some of the greatest they have ever had. Tijuana Front Row: Mary Switzer (leader).
