Sophomore Ginger Davis places the collection money on a table along with other items that represent what we are thankful for. Items placed on the altar represented food, education, sports, music, and shelter. During the Thanksgiving Liturgy, Fr. Goethals pours the wine in preparation for the Eucharist. In his homily, Fr. Goethals reflected on the import- ance of being thankful for our blessings. Senior Martin Seo sings under the direction of Campus Ministry’s Mr. Curry. The students’ favorite song was the closing song, Malo! Malo! Thanks Be to God!” as sung by Mr. Gentry. During the Great Amen, students hold hands symbolizing their unity in both faith and community. Kaitlin Sliorrock exchanges a hug with a friend during the Sign of Peace at the Liturgy. Whether it’s a handshake, high-five, smile, or hug, the message is clear: May peace be with you. Dancers Beth Ubaldo and Frances Grimstad gracefully present the gifts at the Thanksgiving Liturgy. They also helped collect student donations during the service. Campus Ministry

At SI, we often take time out of our busy schedules to reflect and develop our spiritual selves. These times include Friday Morning Liturgy, Reconciliation, class liturgies, and the larger school masses. During the 148th Mass of the Holy Spirit, the Student Body’s first school mass together, Fr. Goethals explained the year’s theme: Choosing to Love. The Gospel incorporated this idea of loving one another and also drew on individual experiences post-September 11th. In his homily, Fr. Goethals reaffirmed Jesus’ words to “love one another as I have loved you. Ultimately, as Fr. Goethals explained, “We have a choice. We can choose to be destructive or we can choose to love.” This year is all about choosing to love. Before this year’s Thanksgiving Liturgy, the Liturgical Committee asked us to write on Post-It notes all the things for which we were thankful. Sure, we had the typical stuff: family, friends, home, clothes, food... but we’re also thankful for things like Harry Potter and James Bond. We’re thankful—perhaps today more than ever—for our freedom and our liberties. These Post-It notes later decorated the Thanksgiving trees as leaves. The Thanksgiving trees stood behind the altar and were symbols of our unity as a Student Body and of our faith as a spiritual community. Throughout this school year, we have learned the importance of choosing to love and being thankful for life’s many blessings. Hopefully this year’s love will continue for many years. Rarina Capulong and Veronica Esmero dance up the aisle at the Mass of the Holy Spirit. The dancers helped introduce the Mass and presented the gifts to Fr. Sauer. Fr. Sauer, as the principal celebrant, consecrates the Eucharist during the Mass of the Holy Spirit. Si's eleven other resident Jesuits aided in the celebration. Choosing 'love Campus Ministry

Growing. ather Wright speaks to the seniors on Kairos. Each year all but a few seniors attend the four-day event. The details of the retreat are kept well-hidden from those who have not yet attended. Juniors participate in a blindfold game on their retreat. Trust is an important aspect of personal growth. Freshmen enjoy the music during their first retreat at SI. During their retreat, Brendan O’Callaghan. Josh Bornstein, and Maya Simpson perform skits in Bannan Theater. Retreats
