Th e Varsity girls volleyball team won CCS, the Var- sity boys basketball team was ranked 1 in the state, and the Varsity football team nearly went undefeated in WCAL. Most unforgettable of all that happened this year, though, was the winning back of the Bruce Mahoney trophy with victories in both football and basketball. The sun sets no more beautifully than when the Bruce is here at S.I. where it belongs. Hopefully, no one can nor will ever forget every- thing which shaped our community this year. How could one ever forget the events, the faces, the smiles, the friendships which we shared? The pic- tures and the writing that make up this book are a feeble attempt to capture these memories, an attempt to capture the beauty of the sunset. The Class of 1999 has made this year all the more memorable. The sunset, which is symbolic of this year, is so beautiful because of the leadership, spirit, and talents which each member of the senior class gave so willingly to the community. As they leave St. Ignatius, they now face a world of new experi- ences. Their role this year has given us confidence that they can and will go out into this world and share all their gifts with everyone they meet, just as they shared their gifts with our community this year. Good luck. Class of 1999, in all you do. The rest of the student body, too, faces a new era. We shared a wonderful year this year, and it is our belief that we are well-prepared to carry on the tra- dition of excellence which the Class of 1999 exem- plified and lead the way into the next milennium.
