As the 20th Century draws to a close, it is an ex- citing and memorable time to be a part of the S.I. community. In many ways, the beauty and unique- ness of the community we built this school year of 1998-1999 mirrors the beauty of a sunset. The ath- lete, the scholar, the artist, the leader...each of these members of the S.I. community contributes a unique and brilliant color to the sunset, just as crimson, pink, orange, and yellow merge to create a breathtaking phenomena each night. Also, just as the sun contin- ues to be bright and beautiful as it sets, so S.I. con- tinues to shine as a new milennium approaches. This year especially, the student body truly shone. An array of different talents and ideas combined to form a student body no one will soon forget. In- spired by the leadership of the Student Council, we came together to study, worship, play, act, and, above all, serve others. In doing so, we cast a light out to all around us. William Shakespeare once noted, “Consider that day lost whose setting sun views from thy hand no noble action done.’' We don’t consider this day lost. In fact, we excelled repeatedly throughout the year. We started the year with a rcgainance of fe- male majority on the Student Council, a Student Council who strove to further school unity in ev- erything they did. Most notably, they reached this goal by creating and advocating the People for Oth- ers Plan, a program in which each club and orga- nization did community service as a group. An- other noteworthy aspect of this year was the hours of hard work that paid off for many sports teams. 2 opening spread
