student expression There seems to be a definite loss of personal individuality that takes place in high school students, not just at S.I., but everywhere. In some, the change is slight. In others, great. Nevertheless, this change callouses the person to himself, imprisoning what makes him truly unique and wonderful. Personal expression (which Inside S.l. outwardly hoped to stimulate in students) means nothing unless there is a Person behind it. The inner target of the student expression article was trying to stimulate people to analyze themselves, to see what they stand for in society, to see what they are important for, to see what they and only they can do in our world. A person must understand himself. He must experience himself from within, then act on the dictates and realization of what hehas discovered. Every person has a fantastic potential, but only a few realize this and act before it is too late. High school is the time to emerge from one's resilient cocoon of fear because as time passes this cocoon hardens, life becomes a regular path around the face of the clock interrupted only by death. Expression is the action that follows self-recognition, but the all-important first stage is inside the womb of the mind and personality. Where the basic structure of our individuality is alive and silently waiting for us to let it breathe. Mike Caldarola Mike McGrorey Bob Slattery December 12, 1967 Inside S.l.
