Every girl has an important spiritual schedule as well as a carefully planned scholastic roster. The quiet peace that Blls the chapel as we kneel in prayer during our Junior Adoration period, the reverent awe that enfolds us as we receive Holy Communion, and when we realize that we are really a part of the Mass as we utter the responses, the wonderful ioy that is ours when Father holds before us Our Lord in Benedictionp all these are benefits of our Catholic education. We count also among our many privileges weekly exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, helpful sermons by our principal, Father Simons, discussion of our problems with Father Blanchfield, our chaplain, three days of retreat to inspire us to greater achievement, and the beautiful May Procession, in which we honor Our Blessed Lady. There are many things which make our school outstanding, many blessings that we will remember all our lives. At the top of the list comes its truly Catholic atmosphere. msn, :lvl f W gt Y, R sn., 5 V, X '51-. M' d6l4!di'Z6'Z fauna! Xie y fe ,H x as .,k ,fl ik...--2 fl 3 H 4 x H? W 4 . ., gp v. Each Wednes- day after Mass, during which the girls may receive Holy Communion, we are privileged to have all-day exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. The day reaches its spiritual completion with Benediction given by Father Simons. I8 '44 'i i When the world is preparing for the Resurrection ot Our Lord, we also prepare by three days of retreat dur- ing Holy Week. During the Annual Retreat, marks, sports, holidays, good times, and all else tade into the back- ground. We set aside all material things to give serious consideration to the improvement of the depth and quality of our spiritual status. Beginning with Holy Mass in the morning and ending with Benediction in the after- noon, the days are tilled with conferences, visits to the Blessed Sacrament, spiritual reading, and recitation of the rosary. It is during events like this that lives are changed, vocations are discovered, and moral reiuvena- tion takes place. TRADITIONAL during the annual retreat is spiritual reading. Patricia Mahoney invokes the guidance of the Holy Spirit as she reads one of the many books and pamphlets available for all retreatants. ith, 0 I WAYS AND MEANS of obtaining many spiritual blessings and favors are offered during retreat. Y We R' X f. m Q 0 amwzyf if-1 cgvlalzxbb The modern education of youth is centered around the requirements for various fields of endeavor. St. Hubert's meets the needs of ap- proximately 2500 girls who prepare here for future careers. The academic course, including Latin, science, and mathematics, prepares those students who will continue their formal education after high school. For business-minded girls the commercial course begins in iunior year with typing and stenography, and continues with more advanced subiects during senior year. Home economics students will put to use the domestic skills acquired in the classroom as they become the homemakers of the future. To develop their individual talents, many girls choose courses in music or art. Modern languages offer us oppor- tunities to learn more about our neighbors of other lands. Religion, English, and social studies, required subiects for all students, complete our roster. Offering a well-rounded curriculum, St. Hubert's fulfills the ever- growing demands for a complete Catholic education. Qu., 7 fi i 'N t pw. The one thing found more noticeably in these activities than in others is our school spirit. When the girls of the student government pledge themselves to uphold the ideals of St. Hubert's and to help us do the same-that's school spirit. When long months of rehearsing precede every presentation of a play and every performance of the musicale-that's school spirit. When busy after-school hours are spent in work on school publica- tions-that's school spirit. When the team, the cheerleaders, and the spectators exhibit enthusi- asm at every game-thot's school spirit. Such activities also increase our poise and social grace and prepare us to take our places efficiently and graciously in modern democratic society. We are given many opportunities here at St. Hubert's so that our social and cultural development may expand with our participation in and appreciation of our extra-curricular activities. rf' , ,W .. dp-we il 1 SSX gl ii ,Qs UPHOLDING OUR IDEALS-A model for Hulaertites, our president, Mary Haverstock, exempli- fies the deep esteem which the girls of S.
