It all happened at such a young age and so It isn't fair she didn't get a life to last. The memories of her are vague, but always Those are the memories we treasure the From this world she's been set free, To be where she is meant to be. She's left us behind to carry on, Our lives must continue even though she Jean Jutte Bruce B.J. Schwieterman Died June 17, 1984 ln 1984 B..l. Schwieterman left this place, The memories of him, we will often retrace. We've spent all of our school year with B.J., lt seemed like it was just yesterday. We wish we had more time with him to spend, Too bad it had to come to such an early end. lt will be hard without him around, All we can do is pray and hope he is happy with what he has found. There have been many thrilling firsts for them, such as: dances, clubs, activities, and sports. They can also look forward, with nervous anticipation, to their first big date. Each of these men, no matter hovv important, are in the eyes of the public. The people choose the school board who then appoint the superintendent and the principals. They make many decisions concerning the school. Their jobs are not easy and should be respected. At. St. Henry we have three princi- pals who are in charge of our schools. Each school is unique be- cause they hold different age groups of students. When you walk into the elementary building all is quiet until the sound ofthe recess bell. This is where Mr. Den- nis Brackman works and deals with the children everyday. Then the adolescence are turned over to Mr. Jim Dippold in the Middle School. Now the students have reached their last step, the high school, where Mr. Robert Condon is in charge. Their jobs are tough, but they do them to the best of their abilities. The next day they sold enough, and the dance was still on. Everyone came bouncing in with their bobby socks and greased hair. The dance went rath- er well. The Skills which St. Henry students learn in IOE classes are used when they participate in OE contests at regional level. Six seniors had the honor of competing at state level because they placed high at regional level. This is the largest number of seniors to ever make it to state level. One senior, Ann Knapke, won lst place and competed at national level. This year seven seniors went to the National Leadership Conference held in Indianapolis, In- diana, along with their advisor, Mr. Thompson. Members of OEA raise funds with bake sales, paper drives, programs for basketball and foot- ball games, and an annual brunch. The St. Henry OEA earned National recognition for overall program CNational Banner Awardj, and for activities on behalf of Special Olympics, community service, safety, and OEA Week. Although there is a lot of hand work put into it, it can be fun. The BAND succeeded extremely well in marching season this year. Receiving superior ratings at con- tests the band was able to go to state contest. They were very pleased to receive an excellent rating and to get the chance to compete at state level. Finally the hard work of band camp had seemed to pay off. They also par- ticipated in parades, fairs, and football games. After marching band comes con- cert band. Concert band is very different from marching band. The music has to be played more musically and takes a lot of time and effort. The band this year re- ceived an excellent rating at con- test, which they were very pleased with considering Miss Stu- debaker was out for half the sea- son. With the help of Mr. Hansbor- ough they succeeded very well. vl'9 't Sophomores ROW 1: Sharon Kaiser, Amy Uh- Ienhake, Becky Whitsett, Jill Osterholt, Dean Miller, Rose Rutschilling, Vicki Rose, ROW 2: Patti Garke, Sandy Knapke, An- gie Droesch, Lisa Westgerdes, Janelle Rammel, Jerry Stuken- borg, Nell Craft, Bill Ross: ROW 3: Shelly Bruns, Amy Dippold, Mary Braun, Lynn Hemmel- garn, Angie Balster, Karen Le- feld, Kevin Lange. STUDENT COUNCIL AND NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY The STUDENT COUNCIL is com- posed of 3 members of each class, who are elected by their fellow classmates. They plan the assem- blies, homecoming events, and other happenings in the school. This year the members spent a day attending other schools in our area. This was done so students could see how the other schools were run and to meet other peo- ple. The NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY is one of the most prestigious clubs we have at St. Henry. Only distinguished members of the senior and junior class are select- ed. To be nominated, you must have an A or B average. They are elected into the society by their character, scholarship, lead- ership, and service. The society held their annual induction where the parents were invited. Each year the club decorates for Christ- mas. Mr. William Tremper is the advisor of the National Honor So- ciety. Lucy Sutter, Kim Guilbault, Linda Goet- tomoeller and Mary Jo Droesch were the four seniors who helped lead the girls to their victories. During the past years, the girl's basketball program has shown Girls many signs of improvement. This was proven this year when the girls captured the Sectional Title and went on to Districts. They were the first St. Henry girl's bas- ketball team to complete such an honor. Among their defeats were Ft. Recovery and New Bremen at Basketbal Sectional play. Soon after, they went on to Lima Bath to play Har- den Northern and fell to the score of 49-45.
