Q li0Ov'0' N CLASS B BASKETBALL The B team though h1t hard by slclcness came through w1th a champ1onsh1p of the North Bay League Sectlon 2 R1ght 1n the mldst of th season Elmo Magrx and Ray and Mlke Bertolucc1 were stncken w1th lnfluenza Th1s was a hard blow to the team but the second strtng played valxantly and saved the day for the Samts In one way thls benefitted the Samts Ray Marshall who had been playing guard was moved to a forward posmon Whlle play1ng guard he d1dn t have such a good chance to show h1s abxllty to put the ball through the hoop but at forward he soon had everyone convmced that he belonged there Durmg the season he challced up a total of 88 pomts more than any oth r player on the squad had made By the tlme the season should hav ended a three way t1e for first place exlsted be tween St Helena Calxstoga and Tomales St Helena 1n avery exc1t1ng game won from Callstoga by a score of 26 to 20 A few days later they humbled Tomal s to the tune of 24 to 8 Thls put them 1n llne to play Santa Rosa The Samts made a very good showlng agalnst Santa Rosa by scormg the Hrst 4 pomts but the exper1ence and super1or1ty of the Panthers b gan to show and the game ended m thexr favor 36 to 14 page forty five .
