Throughout our h1gh school careers thus far the present 1un1or class has net er
fa1led mn an obl1gat1on to the school has always g1ven Student Body entertamments
when called upon and has always cheerfully helped 1n soclal and execut1ve act1v1t1es
As a class we were comparatxvely small and so contr1buted but very few athletes to
the var1ous athlet1c contests but after all orams are more xmportant than brawn
Upon the Semors d parture th1s year we feel quxte conhdent that we w11l be able

We the Class of 37 a decldely small and qulet group, entered hlgh school
durlng the fall of 1933 As Freshmen we possess d a certam Splflf that was ever
present amongst us whlch has made us an outstandmg group ln the eyes of the
other classes Our first soclal event arrlved when we gathered upon the football
turf one noon hour durmg September to r1d the Held from large and damagmg
rocks In thls way we not only lmproved the turf but expr ssed our gratltude to the
faculty and the oth r classes However, we were amply rewarded through the
generosxty of our adviser Mlss Lull, who s rved us large quantltles of xce cream
Durmg the latter part of November we ran true to form and gave a Freshman
Return Durmg May the first Annual School P1cn1c was staged and turned out to
be an affa1r 1n whrch all of us played a consplcuous part Sp clal mentxon mrght
be glven to the wonderful dramatrzatlon of The Merchant of Venlce that we
put on Thxs Shakespearean productxon was a tremendous success and was not
only p rformed for the benefit of the Student Body but for several outs1de organ
xzatxons as well
Our Sophomore year was qulte calm VVe had no Sophomore Hop due to the
fact that the coffers of our treasury were extremely low I-Iowev r we drd play a
most actlve part 1n the several school functions and socxal ev nts Our dramatlc
abxlxty was once agam exhlblt d durlng our Sophomore year when we presented
a colossal puppet presentatlon, under the dxrectlon of Mrss Kelley, out English teacher
During thus last year we achieved the rank of umors and finally reallz cl the
responslbxllty and lmportance that is due upper classmen The problem of most con
cern to us this year was the financmg of a unlor Prom Thls problem was Hnally
solv d by means of a number of candy sales The unlor Prom was glven on the

THE HISTORY OF THE CLASS OF 38
We the Class of 38 first assembled durlng the fall semester of 1934 At thxs
t1me we elected our class officers and also chose as our advrser, Mr Nemo Debely
Our first few days 111 h1gh school were ones 1n wh1ch we f It ent1rely lost However, as
we gradually 1ncreased our acquamtances w1th students from other classes we
developed 1nto oulte a llvely group and one that has grown to be very act1ve We
were formally welcomed to this hxgh school 3mldSt a great deal of lclndness and
frlendllness at the Freshman Receptxon whlch was gxven us by the rest of the
school A few weeks later we held our first social functlon the Freshman Return
Thls affalr was qulte successful and those attendlng had a most enjoyable evenmg
A great many freshmen boys went out for the var1ous athletlc teams durmg thelr
flrst year and smce then have ga1ned renown ln thelr respectlve sports I mlght also
add that we as a class were qulte aCt1V6 m all Student Body affa1rs durmg our
Our Sophomore year was very quxet We had no soclal functlons of our own,
due to our flnanclal status, but we asslsted ch Student Body 1n every possxble way
Throughout the entlre year, we gave varxous Student Body entertamments, lnclud
1ng a few dramatlc product1ons, all of whlch were successes 1n ch 1r own l1ttle way
We again galned hlgh honors ln athletlcs and had a goodly number of repres ntatxves
on every athletlc squad
The Class of 38, ln 1ts two years of hugh school llfe, has fulfilled m every
posslble way each requlrement aslced of If We all hope to contmue to do as well
m our next two years, not only for ourselves, but for the ben Hr of the school as
well The entlre class wlshes to thank our advlser, Mr Debely, for all the tlme
he has glven us and also for h1s good common sense I-le has been a fine advlser
and we all hope that he w1ll contmue h1s good work wxth us LAURIL WOOD
